“You heard me. I need you grounded, not performing for the floor.”
I slipped them off quietly, placing them by the door. The tiles were cold under my feet.
“Good. Now stand straight. Not stiff, just… aware.”
He finally looked at me, eyes scanning me over, not in a judging way, but in a way that made me suddenly conscious of my shoulders, my arms, the way I was breathing.
‘My name is Smith young, I’d be your coach on your vocal trainings. You can call me coach Smith.’ He ended his introduction with a smile that was not too cold nor too friendly. But he made sure it made me comfortable and it worked.
