The Omega Queen
Warmth surged, spilling quick and hot across my palm, dripping down my wrist.
The mist inhaled. I felt it draw close, curling, coiling, and thickening like a hungry animal smelling meat.
Grothul’s voice grew deeper, pleased. “Yes… yes. Freely given. Without fear.”
I closed my fist, squeezing. Blood ran between my fingers, down to the stone. I stretched my hand forward, palm open again, letting it fall. Each drop landed with a sound like thunder though it was only liquid.
The mountain drank.
The mist thinned. I felt lightening pulling back in lazy coils. My lungs filled easier. The smell still lingered, but was now less suffocating.
