" * After Dad was sentenced, Mom sent a paternity test report back to our hometown. She gave it directly to Grandma. That same day, she took me back there as well. When we arrived, we were greeted by the sight of Grandma and Denise viciously fighting each other. Mom let out a scoff, tears of bitter amusement slipping down her face. "She spent her whole life treasuring the daughter of a mistress," she muttered. "It's about time she knew what that feels like." With that, Mom pulled out her phone, removed the SIM card, and tossed it into the trash bin. Then she turned to me, her eyes softening into a smile. "Mary, let's go travel the world."
