POV: Rory Hale Another appeared ahead, cutting me off. My chest heaved, panic keen and scorching. “No, no, no…” I grabbed the nearest book and tossed it. It went straight through the monster like it was mist. But the mist hissed, pushing tighter, creating claws. “Help!” My voice cracked. “Somebody” And then the growl came. Deep. Savage. Close. A flurry of silver and black tore past the aisle, crashing into the gloom. Snarls filled the air, volumes flying, shelves cracking under the impact.

I needed to feed my monsters or there would be consequences. “Hi, handsome. Would you like some company?” I turned and saw an attractive blonde standing next to me. Perfect. I thought to myself. She wasn’t my usual but she would do. So I started my game again. Within thirty minutes she was walking out the door with me. We walked over to my car and I held the door as she climbed in. I smiled to myself as I climbed into the car and drove her to her death. This wasn’t how I wanted the night to end at least not with this woman but it would hold off my demons for now.

It became more intense the closer I worked to the windows, but strangely, I saw no one each time I peeked. What is going on? Could it be that the monster has discovered a human wolf lives here? Is this how I am going to die? Now more than ever, I wish Mateo could come over, but I don’t think so. His mother should probably be at home. “She’s staying here.” “I would like to see—” Rei released my hand and lifted his bourbon. “Check it out and come back,” he said to Em. “She’s safe sitting here with me.” “Jasmine?” Em asked.
