The room seemed to wrap around her, providing warmth and solace. As she started to read, time slipped away, and Mia lost herself in the world of words. FEBRUARY, 23, 2018. DARK MOON PACK. (ORLA'S POV) I hissed for the third time in a row, flipping the book I was reading on the bed. It had begun as a mere foreboding, but as time crawled by, I couldn't help but feel that heavy weight on my chest. It was so thick that I felt I could touch it. That feeling. Something was about to happen, yet I couldn't place what it was.

“Makes sense.” That surprised me a little. I expected a comment. Or judgment. Or that usual tone he used when he thought something was pointless but didn’t care enough to argue. Instead he just… accepted it. So I leaned into the conversation instead. “This book is actually good,” I said, tapping it lightly. “It’s mostly poetry centered on grief and memory and how people pretend they’re okay when they’re not.” His eyes flicked down to it again. “Sounds depressing.” “It’s not depressing,” I said immediately. “It’s emotional.”

“What do you want, babe?” My mood flipped instantly. My lips curved into a smile as I stood up from the couch. My hair had grown long, longer than I remembered. It fell freely down my back, brushing my waist as I walked toward him, the novel still in my hand. I dropped the book onto his desk. “You look tense,” I said softly. “And you’ve been such a good boy.” His brow lifted slightly, silently questioning me as I leaned closer. “Should I make you feel better?”
