" She turned and walked out of the tent. She was about to cry and needed to get away from him. Without talking to her, he had taken away everything that the moon goddess had given her, in a moment of his own self pity. She ran in between the rows of tents and randomly ducked into one. She fell to her knees and started to cry. It had hit her now. She cried as quietly as she could but her body shook with each silent sob. She stayed there by her self and let it all out for several minutes. She started to feel sick to her stomach. She had clearly let herself get too worked up over this. It hit her all at once and she got to her feet and ran out of the tent and threw up in a nearby bush

They pause at seeing us, but then trot over to the door where they shift and go inside, all murmuring. Water drips onto my check and I brink in surprise. I swear it was snowing, not raining. Another drop of water drips from Ash's nose and onto my face. I would have thought he was crying if I didn't know better. Wolves didn't cry, and besides, it was just from the snow melting on his head and running down his nose til it dripped off.

“Are you really Knox’s mate, or are you just playing some kind of game?” Lydia blinked, stunned by the bluntness of the question. “Excuse me?” Ella tilted her head. “You heard her. It’s just a little hard to believe that Knox would have a mate. Especially someone like you.” “Well, do you expect him to be mateless? I can’t blame you, and if you think I’m some kind of ride-along, then I guess you’re wrong. We are a mate-blessed bond from the Moon Goddess. I’m sorry—there’s nothing you can do.” Lydia threw in the remark, which earned a scowl. She knew she’d hit the spot, but they were at a party, so obviously, they could do nothing.

The full moon hung high in the sky, its silver light casting an ethereal glow over the pack grounds. The night felt different now, heavier, as if the weight of what had been left unsaid between her and Kael was now a tangible force in the air. Leora couldn’t escape the feeling, not when every step she took felt like it was leading her closer to something that was both terrifying and inevitable. The conversation with Liam had planted a seed of doubt, and now, more than ever, she found herself questioning everything she had thought she understood about her bond with Kael.

“They don’t.” We stand there, two shapes in the snow, the cabin’s light faint behind us. “I don’t think the blood moon is the beginning,” I say after a moment. Rowan’s head turns slightly. “What do you think it is?” I consider the pressure in my chest. The steadiness. The sense of being located rather than activated. “I think it’s when whatever this is stops being potential,” I answer. “And starts functioning.” The bond tightens faintly, like a held breath.

I look over at Claire and she nods her head at me as she and Tristan step out the back door. My eyes return to Braxton, and the tears I have held at bay start slipping down. “I’m so…” I choke on the emotion clogging my throat. “My moon.” Braxton steps towards me, sliding his hands on my cheek, wiping my tears. He bends down connecting his forehead to mine.

Moon attempted to smirk, but his look was too anxious, as it darted between the younger Alpha and me. I scowled at Moon. “And I take it you picked something up, after you ditched me at our wedding?” “Someone,” Moon hissed, although his expression softened, as he forced himself to smile at the teenage Alpha. “Moon says that you’ll allow me to say my secret name.” The Alpha tilted up his chin with the same defiance as Moon had in the REJECT cell. “It’s Moth.”
