Then, a gentle and warm presence made itself felt in the depths of the water. The Moon Goddess uttered the final words. “Hunter, your heart has already made the choice. I wait til I hear feel the cold air drifting into the kitchen and the soft sound of a door closing before glancing into the hallway again. Through the doors glass I could see Embers back to me. The left side of her body was eliminated white from the moon and her hair looked like silver threads as they hung down her back. Creeping towards the door she shifts and a second later a see a silvery gold wolf dashing across the snow, her body low as she ran.

After a lot of congratulations and promising I would call her back to discuss details after my tour with the Prince. I headed back downstairs to see Jamie sitting on the couch playing a driving game against my younger brothers. Smiling to myself as I walked up. “Sorry for the wait. I got some news from my best friend at Opal Moon.” I said. James looked at me with a bright beaming smile knowing it would be something to do with Kyle I nodded at him and rubbed his head.

He had chuckled maniacally all throughout the menacing waves and blurted it was that fish-of-a-gun rival of mine that was responsible for our tricky trip. This said competition must be anything but a fair game. I was sent by myself, though Amaltheo, as a part of me, draw back inside his sheltered abode inside my mind. An hour later, she stood in front of her mirror, admiring her makeshift disguise: baggy blue pants, a brown belt with a cobra buckle, a collared shirt tucked under a dark vest, black hat, a fake mustache, and boots that had seen better days. "Not bad," she mused. Her reflection was, at best, unconvincing, but desperate times called for questionable outfits.

The glass windows ripple like water. "Now look," she says, showing the shapes moving on her arms. The glowing structure behind them is identical to this new mythical looking diner. "This tattoo was a dream. Just abstract shapes that I remembered. I thought they were fragments of memories. Now, I don't t think that's it at all. Or not all of it. Look here." She pointed at where a glowing orb pulsed beneath her skin. "That's the Wolf Moon. Vuko is also looking now, frowning at the wisps of light and shade moving like shadow play beneath her skin. The original static shapes of the tatoos she had have gone. This, this is magic. And it's alive.

He said. "Who are you?" I asked. "I am Franco and that's all you need to know. I don't have time for chitchat. Now let us see." He walks towards me and pull me by my hair. "Look at the moon now." He said showing me the Blue moon who is shining so beautiful in the sky. Something inside me is burning. I look t the moon but I see nothing as it shines blinds me. "It hurts! It hurts!" I shouted. I feel my claws are extending as my nose, ears and eyes are bleeding. My bones are cracking as well as my skull. "What is happening to me?" I saw the man smiling at me.

The thing that would help me get to what would start everything we wanted to. I held it to the torchlight. Power coiled in my chest like a beast unshackled. A laugh tore from my throat—quiet at first, then sharper, edged with triumph. “At last,” I whispered, the words burning like a vow. “With this, I’ll summon her. The Moon Goddess will come to me. Not as a savior—” I clenched the crystal tight, knuckles white. “—but as our prisoner.”

Tongue lapping at the water in desperation, I slowly slid myself in the water to calm the aching of my muscles. Now that I had shifted, it truly felt horrendous. And I didn't want to change back in the fear of going through a similar burn. Closing my lids for a few minutes, I let my guard down, feeling the water around me calming every piece of me that ached like death. I decided to climb back out. Exhausted. Still standing on the edge, I shook my fur to get rid of the heaviness of water. And momentarily glanced down at my reflection, startled at what I saw. My newfangled head was of a wolf staring back at me, her eyes a shiny turquoise like mine.

For a heartbeat, even Kilian looked afraid. Then the barrier flickered. The power faltered — not from weakness, but from mercy. The Moonfire pulsed as if rejecting her hesitation. She felt it drain from her, ebbing like tide pulling back into the sea. She fell to her knees, gasping. “I can’t… control it.” Kilian was beside her in an instant, his arms steadying her. “Then don’t try. Just breathe.” Around them, the surviving wolves rallied, pressing the enemy back from the fire’s reach. For the first time in hours, the tide turned — not through strategy, but through faith.
