Even Cato, Elias, and Dorian flanking me stiffened, claws flexing, muscles tense. And then the light came. Blinding. Sharp. Living. A radiance so raw it burned against my skin. Luna stepped closer. “That’s beautiful.” “Each moon once had a guardian,” Eldric explained. “The Moonbearers,” Kael said quietly. Luna nodded slowly. “So there used to be twenty people like me?” “Yes,” Eldric said. “And the Shadow King destroyed them.” “Most of them,” Rowan added. “Some vanished before the war ended.”

He just opened the door. Damon stepped in front of Elara, his claws came out with a clicking sound. "What are they?" Elara asked quietly, the special liquid on her arm was moving in a rhythm. The old woman looked at them with sadness. "They are the 'Unspoken'. The ones the Moon Goddess could not kill.. Now that the Blackwood family has spilled their blood into the soil, they are hungry for the Sun." From the clouds above, a big shadow started to come down, its eyes were a lot of small burning lights.

I muttered to myself. Entering a crowded living room, I found it large enough to accommodate up to fifty people. It was a lively mixture of the Moonlight Pack and Boldclaw Pack, the only surviving packs in Latan City after the great war. Every full moon, there was a party that brought the two packs together. Though they had once been enemies after the great war, I had yet to discover why. But that was the least of my worries. I loved parties, but certainly not a wolf party.

The Full Moon tonight looked brighter than I had ever seen before. Standing under the moonlight, I spread out my hands, receiving the warmth and rays that made me feel stronger. The Children of the Moon, people once said about werewolves. Ever since the Dark Ages happened, werewolves adjusted their lifestyles, including everything about transforming and not calling themselves 'Lycans' anymore. When I was enjoying the moonlight, a blood-curling scream was heard from the dark woods behind me. I was frozen for a second, realizing that it was my mother’s voice, screaming for help.

With help from strangers who answered their questions, they got to the base of the mountain. There were lots of other students—some witches, some wolves. In their world, there were four main supernatural types: Wolves, vampires, witches, and elves. But because of a past fight, they had split into two sides. Witches and wolves were one group (though they lived apart), and elves and vampires were another. So it was a big surprise when some elves and vampires showed up at the top of the mountain. “If witches can be in the Luna Calvary, why not elves and vampires? Don’t we all want peace?” a female elf said.

It felt as if they were two lovers being separated by distance, and the heart-wrenching feeling of being apart shackled them in the endless prison of the night. As Amethyst continued to look at the moon, she reminisced about the time when she was still at the White Elf village. Every night, Healer Elves would come out of their cottages and sit in the open, gazing at the sky to admire the moon. Everyone would glow from head to toe as if the glow alone added a mysterious affection to the moon that shone upon them. She remembered, Topaz glowed the brightest and smiled the widest but, all was left to be only reminiscent now.

“The prophecy is old, older than this palace and our kingdom. It speaks of a time when the Lycan rule will end completely, it speaks of the Moon Goddess abandoning her favored children, the beasts. It says that every thousand years a human is born under a very specific sign in the sky. They are born under the light of the blood red moon.” “The blood moon,” I repeated slowly. The words matched perfectly the story the girl had told me. I remembered Elvanya telling me about her dream. She saw the blood red moon in her sleep just before the mark appeared and started burning her skin. Her simple story matched the ancient destructive legend exactly. “Yes.
