I nodded my head in agreement. "Kate bought it," I explain. The mobile was breathtaking really, made completely out of metal and wood, with little moon and star shapes hanging from it. It had little diamonds embedded in the shapes, so that everytime it spun, it twinkled brightly. "It's really beautiful," Cassie says, "And I bet expensive as well." I turn to her in surprise when I hear an almost depressed tone to her voice. "What's wrong?" I ask, my eyebrow raising as I took in Cassie’s slumped shoulders. She shrugs and forces a smile on her face.

The trees leaned as though trying to flee. ⸻ Day Seven. The final countdown. Ava stood by the ancient ruins, the wind wrapping around her like a cloak. Achi joined her, his body tense but steady. “We started this with fear,” she said, her voice clear, “but we’ll finish it with truth.” Behind them, Marcus and Darius watched in silence. Neither dared speak. The ground itself seemed to breathe with anticipation. The Blood Moon began to rise—larger than ever, swollen and pulsing with power. Its red light painted the world in warning.

“Rhys is cooking it tonight, under the blood moon. I saw it. He wants my child’s power.” Derrick clenched his jaw and pounded the table with his fist. “That bastard. Where?” “I can’t say exactly where,” I confessed, despising how it put me in such a helpless position. “But it’s close. The visions… they’re connected to the energy of the moon. It’s happening now.” Jonas marched ahead, speaking with the conviction that rang out naturally from him. “We've been around to the eastern ridge. It’s a clearing there, old ruins. It’s a probable place for a ritual.”

Hunter asked from afar and I shook my head as I tried to catch my breath why the both of us continued to pant. "The royal garden?!" We both chorused. By the time I got there, I was surprised to see Malia in the middle of the garden with my kids. "What is that?" Nolly asked. There is a light that looks like a globe that barricades the three of them causing the moon to shine brighter illuminating the whole garden as the waters become diamonds and the grass looks like a golden rug. "Wait a minute…babe…" I looked back at Hunter. "Am I the only one seeing that or you could see as well?" I asked, looking at his eyes focused on Malia.

ZANA’S POV Caden led me outside and through the academy grounds to the moon garden. It was one of the most beautiful places on campus. It was a circular garden filled with flowers that glowed softly in the darkness. The place was also decorated with moonstones that gave off a gentle silver light. The air smelled sweet too. The sudden quiet felt unreal after the noise inside. The garden glowed softly under the night sky. Somewhere nearby, water trickled from a fountain. The air smelled clean and cool.

Finally, the shadows released them into a clearing tucked behind the north tower. The sight stole Sera’s breath. The Moonveil Garden glowed under the night sky, flowers blooming in cascading shades of silver and pale blue, their petals shimmering like captured starlight. Vines curled up trellises, humming faintly with magic. A small fountain gurgled, the water catching the moon’s reflection and scattering it across the garden floor like broken glass. “It’s beautiful…” Sera whispered. Lyra smiled softly, as though she had been waiting for that exact reaction. “Told you.”

I can't wait for her to return when school resumes, we have a lot to talk about. Feeling bored being confined in my dorm, I decide to visit the garden even though it's already late. It's almost midnight and the moon is shining brightly. Without fear of being caught by Ma Flora or a hunter, I leave my dorm. The garden is quiet in the way only nighttime knows how to be. Not silent, never silent but softer. Calmer. The kind of quiet that settles into your bones instead of pressing on your ears. Moonlight spills across the stone paths like silver water, catching on leaves, flowers, broken edges of statues that haven’t fully healed from the war. Nothing here is perfect yet. Neither am I.

MARA The night smelled of lavender when I pushed open the wrought-iron gate. The Moon Garden stretched before me, silver and alive beneath the full moon. The gravel crunched softly under my steps as I walked deeper into the garden Lila had once built, a place meant for prayer and peace. The crescent beds curved toward the center where the moon lilies grew tallest, their petals catching the light like polished glass. I knelt among them, brushing my fingers through the damp soil. The warmth of the day still lingered beneath the surface.

The high ceiling was covered with black cloth, which would be luminated by light projector, making it look like a sky full of stars.
