I can’t smell coffee, so I assume it’s some herbal tea. “Yeah, mom’s been in the hospital for a while”, she says as she stands next to me and grabs a book from a shelf. “This was my favourite book growing up”, she says. It’s a classic. The little prince. I understand why. I read it once. Not my cup of tea, but I can understand why she likes it.

I think for a moment, “I don’t think I have one. There is a small café that Kendra and I frequent because it is conveniently located near her workplace. I don’t eat out much.” “You read a lot. What is your favorite book?” Max asked. I shrug, “It depends on my mood. We didn’t have television growing up, so I read a lot. I don’t think I have a favorite book. But my favorite genre is historical romance.” “Oh, you like things about knights and kings?” Max inquires. I feel slightly embarrassed, “No, some of my favorites are about someone who goes back in time, and they have to adjust. Most go with a poor farm boy.”

Of course, I also have other books. For some reason, 'Endless Poison Love' is my favorite romance novel because I can feel the Author's feelings being poured into it. Sure, the plot, characters, scenes, words, and lessons are good, but it's the Author's way of writing that has got me hooked. She's a genius.

I look forward to being a well known writer like, Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie, the late legend; Chinua Achebe, Nnedi Okorafor, Wole Soyinka, Colleen Hoover, Ted dekker, Sidney sheldon, Dean Koontz and so many others. I don't think I have ever seen anyone who reads wild like I do. My love for books is out of this world, I just purely love good books, like really really good books with awesome plots. I can't be spotted anywhere without holding a novel. I was about to read one, 'Home coming' by Yaa Gyasi.

It was a shame the library didn’t take into account situations when a reader couldn’t return books due to health issues. I had to admit, my mother had good taste. I had read these books myself and especially loved Little Women and Dandelion Wine. I had always thought she preferred women’s romances — passionate dukes, charming princes, delicate ladies. Well, I was wrong, and apparently there was still a lot about her I didn’t know. I now had a rough idea of her taste, yet I couldn’t understand why I hadn’t asked which books she had already read and which she hadn’t.

If she could be surrounded by books all day every day, she would. June spent so much time around the books that she was one of the smartest people Emily had ever met. Over the years she had probably read every single book in that place. And it was a huge building with thousands of books. She had read all the medical and scientific books, every nonfiction book they had, and encyclopedias. She also read all the history books. Not just the human history, but the werewolf history too. But even June would say the smutty books were still her favorite.

He asks with something in his voice I can't quite identify. "You don't know." I say with a slight chuckle in my voice. "Just pick one." Although I might just be biased because I love her writing." I lean back in the chair with a satisfied look on my face. "What makes you love someone's writing?" He sits back in his chair and looks at me curiously.

He felt his hatred well. I don't like the book itself, perse, but I love how it alone can bring out all these individual interpretations and perspectives of anyone who reads it." I pointed down at him. "And that is why it's my favourite." He nodded his head in response. "What?" "Now that's beautiful."

I struggled to choose what book to read to him, since it occurred to me, belatedly, that I have no idea what my Master reads for pleasure. I try to choose something classic instead, something appropriate; but ´Wuthering Heights´, with Cathy, Heathcliff and Edgar, and their doomed love triangle, isn´t right. Neither is ´Gone with the Wind´, with Scarlett, Rhett and Ashley. ´Pride and Prejudice´, ´Jane Eyre´, ´Anna Karenina´, all dwell on the failure of three lovers to make their situation work. In the end, I choose something very different, ´Time Enough for Love´, an old 1970´s Sci-fi novel, in which the characters make their polyamorous family work.
