Most Romantic Books Ever Novels & Stories

I scanned the shelves, my eyes tracing the titles and covers in search of the perfect book to momentarily distract me from the reality of my mother's illness. A vibrant book cover caught my attention, a beautiful couple locked in a passionate embrace against a backdrop of rolling hills and a setting sun. "Love's Everlasting Promise" was emblazoned across the top in elegant script. I knew, in that moment, that this was the book that would temporarily fill the void in my heart.

“I’m sorry, but it’s true. Men think wiggling their eyebrows at us or doing what you were doing is sexy, but really, it isn’t, especially when you’re dressed like that.” I shrug and slump on the bed next to her. “I just thought it was romantic, you know?” She leans over to the side of the bed and pulls out a romance book from under the pillow. “Use this. It’s the best manual for what girls really like.” I take the book and study the cover. A man is kissing the neck of a woman whose blouse is slightly off her shoulder. “Blah,” I say and toss the book to the side. I actually think I’ve read it before.

Anything else. That’s when I remember the library book I should’ve returned weeks ago. The librarian’s probably going to bite my head off—but honestly? I don’t care. I’ve read that book so many times, I could quote it in my sleep. The romance between the Prince of England and the American president’s son… what started as hate turned into something powerful, something unstoppable. A love so intense, not even the gods could break them apart. I dream of a love like that. But in my messy little life, it feels impossible.

In the center of the room stood an imposing mahogany desk with a leather chair. In front of it was a large black chaise longue resting on a round white rug. The atmosphere was luxurious yet discreet. Magnificent. I spent several minutes simply admiring the most beautiful room I had ever entered. Then I slowly walked along the shelves, stopping when I reached Historical Romance. Romance novels were what had brought me this far as a virgin. They were my Achilles’ heel, and there was nothing I could do about it. I picked up my cliché: Pride and Prejudice.

"Pride and Prejudice. Jane Eyre. The Great Gatsby." I turned to him, tears instantly filling my eyes. "You cut up first editions?" "I had duplicates," he shrugged, though his eyes were gentle. "I wanted her to sleep under the stories you love. I wanted her to dream in words." I choked out a sob. It was the most romantic, destructive, incredibly Alexander thing he had ever done. "It's beautiful," I whispered. "It's perfect." He let out a breath he’d been holding. He walked over to the rocking chair in the corner—a massive, plush velvet chair that was clearly sized for him, not me.

But I didn't get a chance to call it out when she continued . “I stumbled upon this book the other day. By mistake, obviously. I thought it was a theological study on ‘Fellowship,’ but it was actually this incredibly sappy romance story about two childhood best friends who fall in love after they made a promise to marry each other if they were still single by thirty.” She let out what sounded like a nervous, high-pitched giggle. “They were very scandalous scenes in the book, Leon,” Rose murmured in a low voice. “Their…sexual escapades were so vividly described I couldn't stop blushing, but I couldn't stop reading either.” She laughed again.

I sucked in my breath just by the mention of the book. I never read dark romance novels, it always grosses me out, the male lead is a pure shitty devil while female lead is always a pure kind hearted angel. The book I love to read is in which there is a bubbly bakery characters. Those kinds of books make me reach my dreamland. Dylan and me.. Oh god!! I sighed. Concentrate Naomi. I kept the statue back on its place and plopped down on the couch and rested my long legs up on the coffee table.

I lightly chuckled while I ran my finger around the top of my glass. "Well, aside from me being a hopeless romantic, I have always enjoyed reading and watching supernatural romance. I always read books where a human and werewolf or some other supernatural being fall in love or found out that they were soulmates. I always found it cute and romantic and many times than once I found myself fantasying about basically being in their shoes. I mean, having someone that will love you forever and would never even once think to cheat on you, that's a dream come true." I softly explained with a dreamy smile on my lips.

Hazel said, her voice full of encouragement. “Men never care if you love them truly and stay loyal,” I muttered, still bitter. “Exactly,” Hazel agreed. “Maybe if the perfect romantic heroes from books were real, I’d consider dating again.” I chuckled. “Right? I’m reading a romance novel right now where the male lead is ridiculously hot.” “Ugh, don’t tempt me! I’ve added a few more book boyfriends to my list,” she said dreamily. “I miss our coffee and book talks, girl,” I sighed.
