“Call me mother instead,” Scarlet said calmly. Her voice didn’t shake....she didn’t stutter. That was the thing that pissed them off the most. Zeta froze then her lip curled in pure disgust as her eyes dragged slowly over Scarlet from head to toe, like she was scraping shit off her boot. “You whore,” Zeta spat. “You filthy little thing. You really have the fucking nerve.” Scarlet stared with a wide smile worn on her face. Zeta stepped closer, her voice rising, “You seduced a mate old enough to be your grandfather and now you want us to call you mother?” She laughed bitterly. “What kind of delusional bullshit fantasy are you living in?”

The Alpha being the charismatic decision maker and head protector of the pack, the Beta as the main enforcer of the pack and the Gamma being the third enforcer, acting as a middleman of sorts, linking the pack and the rulers. “Does he usually rule alone? the Alpha, I mean,” I said as I admired one of the paintings in the hallway, stopping our walk momentarily. “The Alpha usually has a mate that rules beside him. I told Mother in confusion, and she pulled her face in horror. “Exactly. What Zion did was an act of betrayal towards his mate, his pack, and his father’s efforts to bring our pack into an alliance with Alpha Lee and his pack. You are never to speak or even think of this.” Mother said and I frowned once more. “So, Zion and Miss Charles mated last night?” I asked Mother in confusion, and she shook her head in horror.

I nodded. “He’s one of the Betas coming. Beta Damon Petridis represents Incubi. His daughter Zoe Petridis is the Beta of Nebrodi, where Alpha Alec’s daughter Katrina is Luna. Damon’s son Alexander is the Beta of Madonie but won’t be joining them as he was called back for an emergency.” Finn outlined. “A female Beta? Don’t you mean her mate is the Beta?” Henrick asked. “No, that’s not what we mean. Beta Zoe is the Beta and is unmated. Many packs are progressive enough to have females in the pack’s primary rank.” Finn groaned.
