I was touched by her words, and I felt a sense of pride and purpose. This was why I had written my book, to help people like this young mother, to inspire them and to give them hope. As the book signing came to a close, I felt exhausted but exhilarated. I had met so many wonderful people, and I had heard so many inspiring stories. I knew that this was just the beginning of my journey as an author, and I was excited to see where it would take me.

“Hate them, let it burn. Just don’t let it burn you down. They don’t get to take that too.” I lowered my hands and looked at him. “Why do you talk like you’ve read every self-help book in existence?” He huffed a small laugh. “Because I have and they’re mostly bullshit. Except the part about feeling the feelings instead of drowning them. That one stuck.” I managed a watery smile, the first real one since the bedroom door opened. “You’re weird,” I said. “You’re welcome.” The DJ dropped the beat again, something faster and louder. The crowd surged toward the dance floor. I watched them move like they didn’t have holes in their chests.

I didn’t have much to do, or anything at all really, but talking about nothing isn’t really my style, at least not with my mom. Maybe I’ll go grab a bite. I wasn’t hungry, but staying home today wasn’t in my plans either. I’ll just go down to the Tasty Place Diner and hope some inspiration finds me. I grabbed my purse and headed out the door, turning back for my book on the kitchen counter; reading books will forever be my first love.

According to him, this book sharpened him more than he thought any book could. “Oh, and I am venturing into another book LETTERS TO MY RAP*ST, a book by bestselling author Fatima Ashabe… I'm not sure I pronounced the name right. It is a book written by a Nigerian author about rape victims, giving us a dive into their life after rape, it is such an emotional rollercoaster. Dad said I have to get mine because of the sticker on the back. Said it is about healing and stuff. I have to burn the paper after writing to my broken self and all. Said the book is not really about rape but about broken people..” Eli kept talking while David looked around the room.

I went through my highs and lows , with no one but God on my side – and honestly , I have fought through it all. Telling you guys , my readers , about my life has not been easy – some times it had gotten a little emotional and some times it even got a little painful. How ever , the need to tell and spread the word of what I had gone through was to great. Who knows , maybe by telling this story I could finally help a few women out who were going through the same. I want to show people that it is okay to be in a slump , it is okay to some times fall…but it is not okay to stay down.
