The Funeral That Ended Us

The Funeral That Ended Us

On the day of my mother's funeral, I sat outside the chapel, crying so hard I could barely stand. Three days earlier, my father had told me she'd died in a car accident. He said her body was so badly damaged that I shouldn't see it. I wouldn't be able to handle it. I believed him. I put on a black dress and sat beside her casket all night. Ten minutes before the cremation, my phone buzzed. A notification popped up for a hotel livestream. I opened it and froze. My mother was on the screen in an evening gown, smiling as my younger sister, Nina Whitmore, handed her a glass of champagne. My father sat beside her, his eyes red. "From now on, Nina doesn't have to live in Evelyn's shadow or suffer

They had come here in time for the funeral. Ellis watched from her room in the ship as Cristine walked into the funeral home. She had plucked some of Ellis’s favorite flowers and gone inside. The picture in the mourning hall was one from her social media, smiling brightly at whoever had taken the picture. Ellis spotted her parents at the corner of the room, greeting everyone. They looked lifeless, her figures gaunt. She flinched. She could see that her mother had cried again. This body camera Cristine took was giving her a full view of what had happened.

(Part 2) I have to commend the author for having such an amazing ability to come with an amazing story! The characters are lovable! There’s humor, passion and a good solid story around it! What more could you ask for! It’s definitely worth your gems and time! You’ll love this!

This was such an interesting story! I enjoyed the characters and plot development. A recommended read! One hiccup was that throughout various chapters there was random errors in the names (e.g, Ellis named Bella). It was a bit distracting but not a deal breaker.

The Lost Sister (The Lost Sister Series Book 1-3)

The Lost Sister (The Lost Sister Series Book 1-3)

The cemetery was quiet, save for the chirping of distant birds and the soft sobs of those left behind. Rocco’s grave was dug at the heart of our family’s plot—a place of honor reserved for the bravest. The earth was dark and rich, the air heavy with the scent of lilies and earth. Stavros knelt beside the grave, his shoulders shaking, and placed a single rose upon the coffin. Jonathan stood beside him, head bowed, his hand gripping Stavros’s shoulder. The rest of the family circled them, hands joined, a chain of grief and unity. When the coffin was lowered into the ground, a gun salute rang out—a tradition honoring those lost in battle, a warning to our enemies that our pain had made us stron

Until The Last Day

Until The Last Day

Her last words echoed like sharp blades: “Vincent…if you love me…let me go.” “Never,” he hissed, his voice trembling. His claws broke the skin as he struck the ground. “You don’t command me, Camela. You can’t vanish without me.” The ground pulsed once, like a beating heart beneath his feet. Then everything shifted. He opened his eyes and found himself standing in the middle of a funeral. Rows of mourners dressed in black lined the graveyard, their faces blurred like smudged ink. Their whispered comments floated through the fog:

Let Me In

Let Me In

Evie stood beside me, her shoulder rubbing against my upper arm as we leaned against the wall. I couldn’t take my eyes off the image on the screen. It wasn’t a picture I had seen before. It looked fairly recent, which told me it was likely from his most recent deployment. When the funeral director began to speak, I tuned out. I didn’t want to hear all the generic phrases that were recycled for every funeral.

Two Kingdoms, One Mate

Two Kingdoms, One Mate

Ludovic's POV The funeral took place around a lawn beside the royal grave yard, two kilometers east of the castle. Foldable plastic chairs were arranged in two rows of five columns each behind an open coffin. I couldn't bear to look into the coffin. With shivering hands, I sat between father and Iris, fighting the tears burning my socket as the blond violinist with red blazing lips, dressed in a simple white tee and a tight fitting black jeans, played a soft music that reminded me of her. She played mother's favorite song, China Roses, by Enya. Father must have chosen that piece, and I knew why.
