Smart generation, huh! Most of his drawings were colorful matching his nature. As I was going through the drawings my gaze falls on a sheet. That sheet has a man, a baby, an old lady, and an empty chair beside the man. It seems like he has drawn his own family. This shows that he is still waiting for his mother to come back and complete the family but the sad part is that she will never return. I know for a kid it is very hard to live without parents. But at least he has a father who is ready to do anything just to see him happy. But no one can fill the void of the mother. I pity him. I hope he gets the motherly love that he is looking for. Hearing her daughter's sugary voice, Michelle couldn't help but laugh. Michelle examined the drawings closely. I asked both of them, and neither answered because they were fast asleep. I decided to leave them there and go do the chores I was doing earlier. I stopped because I wanted to wake them up, but since they have both refused to wake, I decided to leave them alone. "I made a PICTURE!" He shoves a crumpled piece of construction paper at us, four stick figures drawn in crayon, labeled in his teacher's neat handwriting: Mommy, Daddy Damon, Daddy Mike, and Me. "It's our family," he announces proudly, pointing a sticky finger at the figures. We look at the drawing, at the stick figures with their wide smiles and oversized hands, standing in a row, holding hands. At our son's vision of what we are. No complexity, no legal issues, just four people happy together.

But she was wrong about that too. Two days ago, Emily had been helping Violet with a coloring book when I'd walked into the kitchen. She was so obsessed with a complete family that sometimes it made me want to give her one. I couldn’t though. Her father was an asshole.

Sophia's POV Liam was sitting on the bed, concentrating, a colored pencil in his hand. The drawing was a joyful mess of green, blue, and yellow scribbles. "What a beautiful drawing, Liam," I said, sitting next to him. "Who are they?" "It's my family," he replied, serious. He pointed at the figures. "That's Daddy Alexander. That's Mommy Victoria. That's Uncle Michael. And that's Aunt Sophia." My heart tightened. The child had included everyone in his perfect world.

Valerie asked curiously. Audrey chuckled as she brought it out. “There it is.” With that, Audrey handed the cardboard paper to Valerie. Reluctantly, Valerie took the paper from her. Staring at the picture, tears circulated in her eyes. “You… You drew this?” “Yes, mommy. That is to tell you how much I've always wanted a complete family. I never said that I will ever meet my mother because daddy doesn't talk about her. This is a picture I drew out of my imagination. So, that's your mommy, daddy and me.” Audrey smiled.
