I’m standing in the middle of the main hall, staring at a sculpture that’s being placed incorrectly, when a familiar, melodic laugh rings out.
“You look like you’re about to bite the head off that statue, Des.”
I turn, and for the first time today, a genuine smile touches my lips. “Lyra!”
Lyra strides toward me, looking as elegant as ever in a deep green dress. She wraps me in a quick, supportive hug, her eyes scanning my face immediately. She’s a Luna, and a mother; she sees through my facade before I even speak.
