Closer. I turned sharply this time, wiping my tears angrily. “Why are on earth you here?” I snapped. “Haven’t you done enough?” His expression didn’t change. Calm. Controlled. Like always. “I needed to talk to you.” I laughed bitterly. “Talk?” I repeated. “About what? Have you not spoken enough? You completely ruined everything, you knew I was her sister, didn’t you?” His jaw tightened slightly. But he didn’t interrupt. “My sister…” My voice broke again, softer this time. “Do you even understand what this means?”

I breathed out in relief immediately after they left, but there was dead silence everywhere. We went back inside with my father. His face was so pale and his hands were trembling. He squatted down in front of me and my sister; his voice was broken, hoarse, and shaky as he looked into my eyes… His eyes were burning with determination. “Liam,” he said, gripping my shoulders firmly despite his shaking hands. “Remember this: you must always protect your sister. Even if I am not here in the future, that will be your duty…did you understand?”

"It’s not that and I’m sure that you know that," "I care about you Anna and that’s why I just want to protect you," she said. "You are my younger sister. It’s my duty to protect you and not the other way round and besides won’t you guys help me with my order?" I raised my brows slightly and curled my lips to the side, satisfied by the looks on their faces.

Instead, her excited expression turns sour. "Why do you care so much?" she asks, frowning. "It's not like Aurora cared when she decided to run away. She should have thought about the consequences before choosing a stupid adventure. You should know that too. I don't understand why you're here and telling me about this. You do realize it's not your business. It's hers." I try hard not to grit my teeth. "I only care because I met her. She's your sister, and she's going to be my sister in law when we do get married. She's going to be family."

Either way, I'm pretty sure that if I continue like this, she's going to really take my place through and through, and there'll be nothing I could say about it. I felt a pang of sorrow as I realized that Henry had chosen his duty over his friendship with Shane or his relationship with me as his sister. Henry's jaw clenched, "I took an oath, Shane. Irritation feels my insides at the realization that I was going to have to punish yet another person. The job of taking care of my sister was the most important thing. And I expected people to do it perfectly. For crying out loud I had given my best Warriors for this job. To make sure that she would never meet any danger.
