I text X Hey, I’m all good today, let’s hang out tomorrow instead? Okay, so what? I lied.. I reread this stupid report on the computer attempting to convince myself that I’m okay. My phone buzzes against my work desk making me jump a little from the loud vibration. X: I wanted to see you, I miss you, are you sure you’re okay baby? Me: ya I’m fine. Miss you too I’m not fine though, this day will never be fine.

I said with a visible frown across my face. " Ain't my problem" he replied sharply. I was taken aback by this, why the heck will a major not be concerned by the death of his soldier? this got me wondering were the others are. " Where's Austin and Smith?" I asked, although Smith is one of them, but i kinda like him " They're been attended to, Austin was bitten, but he's gonn' be okay." he said " Can I see him?" I asked hopefully, I need to be sure he's still alive. I don't trust this motherfuckers I thought.

“Put some ointment on it when you get back.” Xena smiled faintly and handed him a medical report. “The results came out today. Take a look.” Felix frowned as he read through it. “I’ve already asked Dr. Liam to lead the team. I’m confident there will be good news soon. Just wait a little longer.”

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that I was pushed off the stairs. "Professor Xander hasn't told anyone about what happened, right?" I asked. "He reported the incident of course. They didn't ask too many questions but if you want to file a complaint then his report would help you in your claim. I can also give you a copy of the medical report I've written, if you need it." He said sincerely. "No, I would like you to keep that one for now. Though, I might need it in the future." I replied. "Alright. Can I run some tests on you? This is related to Xander's theory of why for some reason your magic is being depleted or something." He said.

You should attend to your clients," I said. I didn’t look at him and walked upstairs to my room. I laid my head on Xavier’s pillow and opened my phone’s screen to see texts from Xavier. Xavier: Is everything okay? Me: No, I keep throwing up. I don’t know what is going on with me. Xavier: Why didn’t you tell me before, Nix? I would have skipped the work tonight. Me: That’s why I didn’t tell you. It’s fine. I guess it’s just food poisoning. Xavier: from a few days? Me: Baby, don’t worry. I have taken meds and I will be off to bed soon. Be back soon, I miss you. Xavier: Okay, but if you feel like that again, visit a doctor. Once I get back home, I will make sure I take you to the doctor myself

Collecting it with a sceptical look, I skimmed through the content. Raising a deviant brow, "do you mean this?" "Medically proved, alpha Xander." I gripped my throat hard. I should really get that rum.

She feels the tension even if she doesn’t understand all of it. I know I fucked up with Xander. I know how bad it looks. I still don’t care. I won’t let anyone disrespect her. Not him. Not anyone. My phone vibrates inside my jacket. I leave it there. Marco’s phone buzzes right after. He checks it, his jaw tightening. “And so it starts,” he mutters. “What?” He turns the screen toward me. The video is shaky. Grainy. Still clear enough. Me. My fist. Xander Chen. The Gala of Hearts. The Éclat Magazine watermark sits in the corner like a warning.

The report had to be perfect, after all. When I finally knocked on Xander’s office door and entered, I was met with the same coldness I had seen earlier. He was seated behind his desk, his gaze fixed on the files. His expression was unreadable, his jaw tense. “Here’s the report you asked for,” I said, my voice steady even though my hands trembled slightly. He took the file from me without looking up and flipped it open. The silence stretched out between us, thick and suffocating.

"The data parameters confirm it as absolute ground truth." Yet, not a single microsecond of joy materialized on Xavier Sr.’s face. He suddenly lunged forward, snatching the three forensic reports into his hands and violently shredding them into a thousand unrecoverable pieces. With a look of pure, unadulterated disgust, he cast the debris straight onto the floor, stomping his heavy leather shoe over the scraps, grinding and twisting his heel into the paper with erratic fury. "Disgusting... absolutely sickening!" he snarled, his breath ragged.
