The boutique seemed to exhale all at once, and then hold its breath. One associate gasped aloud. The older woman polishing a ring froze, the cloth slipping from her hand to the counter like a fallen leaf. Her eyes widened, color draining from her face. A beat later, the quiet exploded into a flurry of motion. “Oh my God—the Misha Ashford?” one of the younger staff whispered, eyes huge. “Is that really him? The genius investor ?
