The next day, I sat in the library, drowning in textbooks I couldn’t focus on. My hand shook when I tried to write, every line turning into Damien’s name, his voice, his smirk.
I tore the page out, furious with myself, crumpling it into a tight ball.
“You’re distracted.”
The voice was low, calm, too close.
My heart lurched. I looked up.
Damien leaned against the bookshelf opposite me, arms folded, watching like he had all the time in the world. The library was quiet, filled with the faint scratch of pens and the smell of dust, but somehow his presence drowned everything else.
