she said as she observed me on the couch. I gave her a big cheesy grin. It fell as she left the room. I glared at the stupid book in my hand. It was meant for kids and therefore omitted all the important stuff. I slammed it shut and turned it over in my hands. When your at the heart of a mystery, you either want it solved or gone or to never have existed in the first place.

I replied, shaking his hand briefly before pulling it back, a tingle left in its place. “So, Kalia, what’s so captivating in that book of yours that you almost missed the best coffee in town?” He nodded toward my cup. I tilted my head, considering him. “You are assuming I don’t already know that this place has the best coffee.” He raised an eyebrow. “Fair enough. But now I’m curious about the book.” I held it up, the cover facing him. “It’s a mystery novel. Keeps me on my toes.” He leaned in slightly, intrigued. “A mystery, huh? So, you like solving puzzles?”

The dim, golden light from the chandeliers above created pools of light and shadow, adding to the library’s timeless atmosphere. I searched diligently, combing through the aisles dedicated to ancient mysteries and the occult. The titles were intriguing yet obscure, written in languages I could barely decipher. Just as despair began to settle in, my eyes caught sight of a section labeled "Ancient Mysteries of the Wolf Race." My heart leaped with hope as I approached the section, quickly pulling out a few volumes.

But nothing seemed to match the symbol on my door. Frustrated, I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples. There had to be something here, some clue that I was missing. I glanced at the stack of books beside me, my eyes landing on one that looked older and more worn than the others. Its leather cover was cracked and faded, the title barely legible: *The Mysteries of Silverwood.* I pulled the book closer and opened it carefully. The pages were brittle, the text handwritten in an elegant script. As I flipped through the pages, a passage caught my eye:

“Anyone would have missed that because it is insignificant, but not you, Haylee.” Liya was right. The book was shoved behind two giant books, and its front cover had been ripped off. I held Jodie with one arm, stretching the other to get the book off the shelf. Flavia heard me and stepped towards me with about five books in her hands. She etched, “Interesting. That might help us with solving the mystery around Elder Calvin’s death.”

I drag my hands across the spines of the books; Kara Taylor's Prep School Confidential, Carol Wyer's The Secret Admirer, and Megan Goldin's The Night Swim. You would be subtle to call Rachel a crime-thriller addict - she's more of a crime freak. The Night Swim. There is a piece of paper sticking out of it. I pull it out of the book. Something is scribbled across it in Rachel's handwriting.

With a gasp, I realized that I had found exactly what I had been looking for. I spent the next few hours devouring the contents of the book, her eyes darting across the pages as she absorbed every detail. It was like a veil had been lifted from her eyes, and she was seeing the world in a whole new way.

It was titled the *THE DIAMONDS* After tireless searching, she finally found it on a particular shelves that had a word engraved on its metal handles. It read, *mysteries*. She quickly grabbed the book out and sneezed repeatedly as the dust on the book found its way into her nostrils. She went to he father's old study and sat on the rusty chair while putting on the mini lamp on the table and finally in great anticipation, she opened the book.
