I took another peek into the basket. She was right. Hidden beneath the bag of salt and chalk laid an array of smallish, clear crystals. Sungul continued, “Once a familiar appears, you’ll give them a crystal.” As I skimmed over the paper that held the spell, Sungul carried on, “You need to remember that you have to stay concentrated during this. Breaking that concentration before offering the crystal would mean breaking the link. You’ll have to start all over again.” “Well….” I trailed off quietly with an exasperated huff. I never knew how much work it took to summon a familiar. “Does it matter which crystal I use?”

And i nodded gently and nervously. “How do you know my name?” I asked slightly surprised. “After all these years of waiting and the moon goddess gives me a worthless piece of shit like you?!” He exclaimed. “I Alpha adrian moon rejecet you Alice grey!” He said in a cold tone. I felt my hopes crashing down in just one second, my heart broke into a million pieces. I didn’t know what to say as all the sentences I tried to form are incoherent. I’ve been waiting to meet my fated mate only for him to reject me on the spot.

I smiled inwardly, knowing I had succeeded. With slow steps, I entered the chapel, my eyes taking in the sacred space before bowing to the statue of the moon goddess. The stale incense hung heavy in the air, and I pulled my hoodie off, relishing the freedom of being in the dark depths of the chapel. The elder watched me warily, his expression guarded. "Elder, I have a proposition for you." I said, my voice silky smooth. "One million dollars, to help me with a delicate matter.”

Malachi said. “I wasn’t always like this, Malachi. I used to be normal, but then I was chosen, and now I know things I shouldn’t know. Gustav Merrick always requires a signed contract,” Alex said, and walked toward the sliding doors of the patio. “And I’m 22.” He walked back to the table where Malachi had first seen him standing and picked up an envelope. He handed it to Malachi who tore it open and took out the typed contract and paged through it.

I nodded. It was the punishment I deserved. Just when I thought it was all over, the old, familiar voice echoed in my head again. 'Regret will not unmake the past, young Alpha.' I turned. The Mystic was there again, a ghost in the shadows of the great hall. "What are you doing here again?" "I've come to tell you a secret," he said, walking toward me, his staff tapping a slow rhythm on the stone floor. "The Farewell Ritual does not always mean death."
