Plaything in one's palm
The instructions were clear, cold, and left no room for questions.
"Your route," the man continued, pulling out a folded map. He didn't give it to Lynn; he simply pointed. "You are here. You will walk to the bus station two miles east. You take the 7:15 AM bus to Albany. From Albany, you take a train to Montreal. You blend in. You stay two nights at the youth hostel listed there. You act like a tourist. Then, from Montreal, you take a train to Quebec City. There, you board a freighter as a passenger. It will take you to Le Havre, France. From Le Havre, train to Zurich. The entire journey will take ten to fourteen days. No planes. No direct routes. You are invisible. You are nobody."
