She slowly turned her head and looked at Bruce. Disgust filled her eyes. She sat up carefully, not wanting to wake him. Then she spotted something. Under the pile of dusty papers and old scrolls on Bruce's desk, a thick black book was sticking out. Her brows furrowed. She had never seen that one before. Natalie glanced at Bruce again. Still asleep. She stood up slowly, pulling her clothes back on, one piece at a time. Her hands were steady. Quiet. Once fully dressed, she stepped silently toward the desk and pulled the black book out from under the pile.

Emily sat at a small table near the window, reading a book she pretended not to enjoy. The girl was taller now. She looked thin, still watchful like something might attack anytime. But there was color in her face, and sometimes, if no one was looking too closely, she smiled like a normal teenager. That was progress. Natasha entered quietly, but Emily noticed immediately. The girl always noticed movement before anyone else. “Dr. Natasha,” she said, closing the book halfway. Natasha smiled. “I told you to stop calling me that when I’m off duty.”

Lila’s nerves felt frazzled with tension as she listened to the activity on the opposite side of her bedroom door. She’d secured the lock and turned out all of her lights before crawling into bed. If she were in her apartment, she’d have been snuggled beneath her thick comforter while watching a little television to help her to unwind. To her disappointment, not only was there no cell phone service in their monstrous stone prison, but there was no television or internet either.

She wondered "Hope all is well with her." She kept thinking but had no answers. Natasha stood at the top of the stairs as she gazed down at them. A broad satisfactorily smile dazzled on her lips. " Silly girl. Let's see how long you can go on like this. " She stated. " I'll make sure I get rid of you before you even think of exposing me, Gina. " She chuckled. "You – are– my next target. " She laughed and left to her room.

Hearing her assistant's words, Natasha looked at Swati and said, "So what's the big deal in this?" Saying this, she started to go back when her assistant said, “No ma’am, this is a big thing. I got news from someone that Mr. Roy is looking for a girl. Who has the same bracelet in her hand as he is wearing in his hand. Hearing the assistant's words, Natasha turned and looked at him and asked, "Are you telling the truth?" The assistant nodded when he asked. On hearing the assistant's yes, Natasha shouted at him, "So what are you idiots doing standing here? Go snatch that bracelet from her."

(Chase) Out of habit, I arrive at the conference room early. My mind is entirely focused on the business battle ahead and I’m looking forward to a few minutes of quiet to gather my arguments. But when I push the door open, I stop dead in my tracks. Natasha is already there. She’s sitting near the large window, leaning slightly toward Mason Stein. Speaking softly to him, she looks completely relaxed. A genuine, easy smile touches her lips and her carefree expression causes a strange ache in my chest.

The city lights glowed through the massive windows around her, but the expensive penthouse suddenly felt cold. Empty. She had worked too hard to get close to powerful people.
