If it weren’t for her clenched jaw and flushed face, I would’ve thought I imagined it. I held my breath and counted to thirty. “You’re the one that told my father to keep me away from Lilac. What else have you meddled in? How the fuck does sabotaging our lives help destroy the Eye?” Hakeem pulled me back as Natasha crossed the room, headed for one of the leather couches. She lowered herself into the seat and brushed her hair from her face. Everything about her, from her expression to the way she carried herself, screamed poised and collected. Here she was seconds away from being mauled to death and she couldn’t even muster a tendril of fear.

Leo seized the opportunity to free himself and quickly made for his room. “Come back here!” I yelled at him, ready to throw down the door if the need arose. Natasha blocked my path, stretching out her arms. “Leave it.” She said calmly. “I’m okay.” She said with a smile. But I could see beyond her facade. She wasn’t okay as she was trying to portray. Leo shut his door rudely, shaking the foundation of the house. I hissed but paid him no attention. I maneuvered myself around Natasha to grab the things I bought for her and returned to her. I grabbed her next and dashed straight for my room.

A frown took over Xavier's face as he assessed Ethan's actions, while the latter pulled out his cellphone from his pocket, after a few moments; hurt, pain and love flickered in Ethan's eyes while looking at the phone's screen. Xavier grew impatient, "What is it?!" He growled as his eyes grew red and his body started to shiver in anger. Gritting his teeths, Ethan stepped forward briskly and shoved his phone in Xavier's face, showing the picture of Natasha Ramirez, "Remember? High School? Ring any bell?" Asked Ethan. Furrowing his eyebrows, Xavier looked at Natasha's picture, saying, "Fucking yes! Now what?!"

She flinched back and submitted. "You're so hot when you're angry. I love it," she said chuckling as she brought her eyes back to mine. I'm sure they're still pitch black because I could see the fear visible on her face, though I know she's trying to hide it.
