How was I supposed to know she would take offense to that? She also really doesn't like my name choices of Anubis for a boy or Nephthys for a girl. I think they are wickedly exceptional Egyptian Death Deity names. Boo. She's no fun.

I asked, trying to understand the magnitude of the trouble we were in. " Nifrem was once the god of death and punishment." “These gods, who were they?” Andrea slowly shook her head. “The ancient Egyptians worshiped them. I know their head god was Ra, the sun god. I don’t know much more than that.” Their eyes met. “Do you think...these must be people who’ve crossed over from world to world, and maybe...”

“Can we get on with the training, please?” Ophois laughed. “So proper on the outside, but you have the heart of a huntress.” I squeezed my eyes shut and gave myself a mental kick for not remaining silent. Up until Demeter had mentioned this guy’s name, I’d only ever heard of the major Egyptian gods: Isis, Osiris, Anubis, Ra. Ophois called himself the Opener of the Way, but what if he was really the Egyptian god of mischief? Or discord? Or the anti-cupid who liked to break up fated mates?

Oh shoot, I facepalm myself, of course they would have never seen these. “Sorry, forgot to warn you. The Hellhounds are bound to my family.” I tell them, shrugging my shoulders. Like it is a known fact, which it is. So none of the Hellhounds will harm any member of my family. Nephthys is the mother of Anubis. Set is his father. In fact, all the Hellhounds are their children. We named them all after the Egyptian gods and goddesses. According to pops he did it to piss them off. They had a falling out thousands of years ago. But the names sort of stuck, so it is tradition now.

Then, with the dead in their power, which caused them to hunt and be enemies of the armies of Set who commanded the hours of the living to attack the hordes of the dead, towards the sand realms of Egypt, this caused a successive wave of deaths, which came with the disease, due to the waters being contaminated by the blood of the dead. Nephthys became pregnant after having a relationship with Osiris, and, to prevent her husband, Set, from discovering her betrayal, she decided to abandon the child. That child was Anubis, who was adopted by Isis when that goddess discovered what had happened, which eventually, Set also discovered what happened and took revenge by murdering Osiris.

As the devoted spouse who resurrected Osiris after his homicide and raised their son, Horus, Isis embodied the everyday Egyptian virtues of a wife and mother. As the partner of the god of the underworld, Isis used to be additionally one of the fundamental deities involved with rites for the dead. Along with her sister Nephthys, Isis acted as a divine mourner, and her maternal care was once regularly depicted as extending to the useless in the underworld.
