**A New Beginning** The morning sun filtered through the soft lace curtains of Lillian and Nicholas’s home, casting golden rays over the cozy living room. The scent of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the faint aroma of lavender from the garden. Today felt different—lighter, as if the weight of the past months had lifted, leaving room for something new. Lillian stood by the kitchen counter, slicing fresh bread she had baked earlier. The quiet hum of the radio filled the air with a cheerful tune. Nicholas entered, carrying a basket of ripe apples from the orchard. He set them on the counter with a grin.

We were finally committing to something we'd talked about in passing, my hair. He would cut it for me, not chunks of hair, just a bit, enough to notice notice. I said pushing them to the bathroom. “Stop, stop” They both said, and I paused. “We already have showered we just need to wear fresh clothes that’s all” I nodded and let the go put on some fresh clothes. We took a cab to go to the airport and took our flight to Europe to start our new lives. I was so excited but at the same time anxious. We were going to a foreign land, and we didn’t know what it will bring to us. We’ll have to see what our journey will bring us.

I took a deep breath and said, "I'm not. I just don't want you to feel disgusted by me." Jake was speechless, as if a thought had suddenly crossed his mind. "Sorry to burst your bubble, but I've never gotten an abortion before," I added. Jake was completely flabbergasted. His face paled as he mustered meekly, "I..." I unbuckled my seatbelt and reminded him, "Return this to me after signing it. Don't make me wait too long."

Maybe he had never been treated like that before, but slowly, the calls stopped. The messages also went silent. At last, I could start adjusting to a new life. At first, it felt strange being in an unfamiliar place and a brand-new job all by myself. However, little by little, I realized I could actually find joy in it. Life began to feel meaningful and purposeful again. The part of me that had been suppressed for years was finally breaking free. Sometimes, though, my thoughts would drift back to the past, to those unforgettable moments that had carved themselves into my heart.

Unavoidable. And just beginning.
