Two days later, Susan could not believe how much had been done in less than two days. Gannon supervised the security project and had put up enough metal posts to attach the motion lighting and security cameras. Signs were also put up at each gate: “This is a no trespassing zone. Our land is protected with weapons and canines. With the price of ammunition so high, warning shots will no longer be given. Enter at your own risk!”

She pointed discreetly as we skirted the corner, now devoid of guards. We continued, our footsteps echoing softly, until we reached a nondescript door secured with an electronic lock. "Memorize this spot, this door," Nadine said, her fingers deftly working her smartphone. "At the right time, our hacker will disengage the lock. Notice the light on the lock—red signifies it's secured. But when it flickers to green..." As if on cue, the light switched from red to green. "Exactly like that. It's your signal to enter." She pushed the door open, revealing a hidden garage. "Through here, you'll find the car for your escape."

Just the arrogance of excess money, confidently invisible. Junior shifted beside Nevena, blinking up at the seamless structure. It held the kind of intimidation that wraps itself around one's lungs. “This is…the gate?” Nevena said under her breath. Junior whistled. “This is definitely where Skynet lives.” Nevena chuckled. “Yeah—the gate alone looks like it cost more than New Mexico itself,” “Excessive at its peak.” Junior agreed, staring at his reflection on the obsidian surface. “Miss Nevena! How do we get in?”

He saluted and rushed inside the compound. As soon as he was inside, the gate was opened. It was a remote controlled gate so he wasn't by the gate pushing it open. Stephany drove inside the compound and as she passed the security guard saluted again and waved after the car went. This enlightened Stephany's mood a little. She drove to the home with the plate V515 and opened the rare lights. The gate beeped and opened by itself as she drove to the tiny compound into the underground private parking space.

There is no house, but there's a white iron proof gate with an alarm button and a code switch. I turn to Rory who is almost already absent and unconscious. "There's no house here, Mr Gate, only a white gate." I carefully explain to him, fearing that I might have gotten the location wrong and that we might be at the wrong location. "It's an underground house." He slowly replies and blood pours out of his mouth. His eyes still close "75598002, that's the code. I get down and hurry to the code switch on the gate and press the number and after the last digit, it opens on its own accord. I come back into the car and hastily drive-in.

Logan spun around. “What do you see?” He asked them. “I thought I saw eyes watching us.” Nathan said. “Me too. But they disappeared almost as soon as I saw them.” Lane said. “Everyone get inside and close the gates.” Logan said and he turned around and got back inside the gates. The gates started to close just as soon as he was inside. Logan walked into the guard building and turned on the flood lights and lit up the tree line. “Keep the lights on for tonight, and have four guards stationed instead of two.” he told Paul, who was head of the night’s guards.

Five metres in front of him was a very bright light, which radiated all over the gate. He held my katana in his right hand and shielded his eyes with the other hand. The intensity of the light was so bright that he had to turn his head away to his right side. “Bring it,” a booming voice from the light ordered him. It was apparent nobody else could see the light, as the gate opened and a blue saloon car drove into the compound. The driver opened the back door to ‘release’ three noisy children into the second apartment beside Tarami’s, which was bigger than hers.

“Perimeter north face. Code 7. Passive Breach. Check the sensor data.” The main screen switched from financial projections to a live feed of the main black gate. The night was dark, illuminated only by the expensive, upward-angled floodlights hidden in the landscaping. I leaned closer, expecting a stray animal or perhaps a delivery drone that had lost its way. Then the figure came into focus. A small, dark shape crumpled at the base of the gate, one hand weakly touching the steel. “Zoom in” I ordered.

“Come.” *** We passed men working at the entrance to the property. The gate was destroyed, the rubble of it lying all over the road and driveway. “They promised to have a new gate installed by tomorrow, Nico.” Sal said, turning around in his seat. Nico grunted something non-committal.
