Emma POV Emma hoped that Zara would take her words into consideration and at least give Alpha Lucian a chance and not reject him right away. She has been through enough and deserves to be happy. She couldn’t imagine the weight on her shoulders right now. When she found Logan, it wasn’t a hard decision for her to make. Rejecting him was out of the question for her, he was her way out, her freedom. Along the way she fell so deeply in love with him, she couldn’t imagine having a life without him. She just hoped Zara got that chance too. She absentmindedly put her hand on her growing baby bump. She felt the baby move. “Logan!!” she yelled excitedly. “What? What’s wrong?” he said in a panic. “Nothing is wrong. I finally felt the baby move!” she exclaimed. Logan fell to his knees and placed his hands on her stomach, grinning from ear to ear. Emma placed her hand on Logan’s head. She couldn’t wait to meet their son. A vision floated through her mind. She was sitting outside in a lawn
Emma POV “Surprise!” “Happy Birthday!” Everyone was shouting as she and Logan walked out of the house and into the backyard. “Happy Birthday, love.” Logan said as he placed a kiss on her lips. “Thank you everyone.” She said. “I can’t believe you remembered.” she said to Logan. “Of course I remembered.” he told her. “Your mom called and reminded him a few days ago.” Sonya, Logan’s sister, said as she walked up and gave Emma a hug. “Happy Birthday.” “Seriously?” Logan exclaimed. “You little brat.” Sonya giggled and ran from Logan as he tried to grab her. He turned back to Emma and shrugged his shoulders. Emma looked at him and rolled her eyes. “Hey, I did remember your birthday. I really didn’t need your mom to call and remind me.” Logan defended himself. “It’s true. He has been planning this for the past two weeks.” Diane said. It was her turn to give Emma a hug. “Happy Birthday sweetheart.” “Thank you.” Emma replied. She spent the next thirty minutes receivi
Emma POV “But why? Nobody knows about my visions except for a few people, and they wouldn’t say a word to anyone. Hell, we didn’t even realize they were visions at first, I just thought they were bad dreams.” Emma said. “Something had to have happened. Something that makes him want you this bad.” Evelyn said. “I’ve seen him before. It wasn’t long after I came to Logan’s pack. He tried to take me, and he almost had me to the fence. I screamed at him to let go and he did. When I screamed at him, I felt this force come out of me, I think it was my Alpha command, but I can’t be sure. He tried to grab me again, but he couldn’t. Then he ran off.” Emma told her. “Wait, you’re an Alpha? I thought you were the Luna.” Evelyn said. “I am this pack’s Luna. But the pack I was born in, my father is the Alpha. My brother is taking over as Alpha, but he is my twin brother, and I was born first. That makes me the true Alpha of that pack.” Emma explained to her. Evelyn looked confused. “That stil
Emma POV “His brother?” Logan asked. “Yes, his brother. Alessio has two brothers. Sebastian and Marco. Alessio is the oldest, then Sebastian, then Marco. Sebastian is his Beta. Marco was his Gamma.” Evelyn explained. “Ah, shit.” Logan said. “You can bet your ass he will be coming on the next full moon. He would have felt Marco’s tether snap, and he will be coming for you. He won’t let his brother’s death slide.” Evelyn told them. “Alessio doesn’t care about anything but power, Sebastian, and Marco. He will want revenge, and he will do whatever it takes to get it.” “Happy Birthday to me.” Emma said sarcastically. “It’s your birthday?” Evelyn asked. Emma nodded. “Happy Birthday.” Evelyn told her. “Thank you.” Emma said and managed a weak smile. This was not how she imagined her birthday going. Emma’s chest was tight, and she was consumed with pure terror. She had been terrified enough before she found out this stuff, and now... Emma sighed. Evelyn told her to trust
Emma POV She knew she should go back down to the party, she just couldn’t bring herself to. She didn’t want to have to plaster a fake smile on her face and pretend like everything was ok. She wanted to wallow in the pits of despair that consumed her. She spotted Alexis in the crowd and she felt her heart crack. A fresh wave of pain tore through her, fresh tears flowed from her eyes and down her face. She didn’t think that pit of despair could get any deeper, but it just did. She watched everyone party and having a good time. A pang of guilt hit her, they were here for her, to celebrate her, and she couldn’t even bring herself to face them. She knew she needed to climb out of this well she was drowning in, she just couldn’t get her first grip on the wall. The more she reached up, trying to get a hold of something to pull herself up, the more she slipped back down. She needed a lifeline, someone to throw down a rope for her. But this wasn’t something anyone could help her with, s
Zara POV Zara sat in the upstairs office that Emma had claimed for her own. She was having a hard time believing the things Emma had told her. First, this Alessio guy was the one that had her parents killed, the one that has been after her ever since she was a kid. She had never known who it was behind the mercenaries, she just knew that there was someone that was funding them. They weren’t smart enough to know what they were chasing her for. Second, her grandmother was Emma’s grandmother’s sister. That was even harder to wrap her mind around than Alessio. Her grandmother’s name had in fact been Lola, and she talked about her sister, Lela, all the time before she passed. She talked about how much she had missed her, showed her the letters that her sister had written her, even though she had been forbidden to. Lela hadn’t cared that her parents didn’t like her sister’s mate, all she cared about was that her sister was happy. They never got to see each other, but they were at least
Alessio POV They had been hiding, watching, for two days now. Waiting. “Sir, something isn’t right.” Sebastian said. “I know.” he said curtly. They had watched the patrols go by all day yesterday, and today, not one single patrol. He didn’t need his Beta to tell him something that was obvious. “They know we are coming. They are pulling their guards back, they are getting ready to fight.” Alessio told him. “But how? How did they know we were coming?” Sebastian asked. “I don’t know. Cut the fence, let’s go.” Alessio commanded. “But sir-” Sebastian began. Alessio grabbed him up by his throat and squeezed. “If you value your life, you will do what the fuck I say and not question me again.” Alessio threw Sebastian against a tree. Sebastian landed on his knees, clutching his throat. Coughing and gasping for air. “Yes sir.” he said hoarsely. “Do it.” Sebastian said, turning to the guy holding the metal cutters. Once the hole was big enough, they crossed the fence and into Silv
Alessio POV Alessio leaned against the car, his patience wearing thin. He was anxious to be on the road. Where the fuck are you? He mind linked Sebastian, letting his impatience sound through his voice. Almost there, sir. Well hurry the fuck up. Yes, sir. Still leaning against the car, Alessio crossed his arms over his chest. His foot tapping, showing his aggravation, when finally, he seen his pack approaching. “About fucking time. Let’s go.” He snapped, tossing the bag of keys to Sebastian to distribute. “You ride with me.” He told Sebastian. “Yes, sir.” Sebastian said, nodding his head once. Alessio climbed in the driver’s seat and put the key in the ignition. The car purred to life. Only a few things in this life gave Alessio satisfaction, the sound of his favorite car’s engine was one of them. Once Sebastian climbed into the passenger seat and shut the door, he put the car in drive and pressed the gas pedal to the floor. The car sped off, gravel flying out fro
