The rug was a lost cause, and so was I. Ava traced lazy circles on my stomach. “Still catching the morning train?” I laughed, raw. “Changed my plans. We’re just warming up.” Liam’s hand slid between my thighs, teasing. “Chapter two starts at dawn.” I closed my eyes, sated and aching and already wet again. The lodge smelled of sex and pine and possibility. Outside, the mountain stood silent. Inside, three bodies curled closer, ready to write the next scene on my skin.

She drops onto the couch opposite him, legs folding beneath her. “What’re you reading?” He lifts the book slightly. The Collected Stories of Nabokov. “Jesus,” she says, grinning. “You never change.” His eyes narrow faintly. “You say that like it’s a bad thing.” “I don’t know. Depends on how you were to begin with.” “Grace,” he says, her name like a warning—but there’s amusement too, buried under the low timber of his voice. “Are you trying to provoke me already?”

“Do all your maids last a full day before you chase them out?” His smile grows. “Touché.” He rises slowly, coffee forgotten, and walks toward me. I back up instinctively—until my spine brushes against the counter. “Tell me, Zara,” he says. “Did it turn you on?” I glare at him. “No.” His gaze dips to my throat, watching it flutter as I lie. He steps even closer. “Because I think it did.” The tension stretches between us, taut and electric. I can smell him—coffee and something masculine that shouldn’t be legal. My heart slams against my ribs.

“Let’s head back inside. Dinner will be ready soon.” I followed them, but my mind was already spinning. Isaac. My sister’s husband. The man who had everything she wanted. The ache between my legs only grew stronger as I watched his broad back while he walked. Upstairs, Claire showed me to the guest room. It was luxurious, with a big bed. “This is yours while you’re here,” she said. “Just… keep things appropriate, Nelly. Isaac and I are still newlyweds.” “I understand,” I said softly, closing the door behind her.

Watching her wake up has become one of my new favorite pastimes and I don’t want to miss it this morning, although she won’t wake up for another couple hours at least; she’s a night creature. I get up and walk back into the bedroom. Stopping at the foot of the bed, I laugh softly as I see the three of them tangled up in each other’s limbs. I then proceed to our library nook in another corner of our room, sit in my favorite chair, and pull out the romance novel I started to read last night. It is a good one. A story about an author who gets a movie deal and gets tangled up with the three male actors who audition to play characters in her book.

His eyes flashed darkly for a moment. He then lifted his head again. His face was full of tenderness as he softly said, "Ana, there's nothing more important in this world than you. You haven't answered me yet. Will you be my girlfriend?" One hand held red roses, the other an extravagant and sparkling pink diamond necklace, like a dual guarantee representing love and future. This was beyond anything that was written in romance novels. The young ladies in the coffee shop were excited, their faces flushed. Seeing this, they couldn't help but cheer in low voices, "Say yes, say yes!"

Once he’s all the way in, buried to the hilt, we roll over again and now I’m on top. I stare down at his gorgeous face, taking in the serious expression, his dark green deep-set eyes, the hair that’s been pushed all over the place with our wrestling around, the tattoos standing out in relief against his lighter skin. I’ve never seen a guy look so incredibly hot in all my life. And he’s moving underneath me, making me feel things that I’ve never felt before. I can’t help but pick up the rhythm and move with him.
