It's less a plot-driven fantasy and more a vibe, perfect for when you wanted to feel wistful and stuck inside.

On a completely different note, 'Piranesi' by Susanna Clarke blindsided me. It’s this quiet, labyrinthine mystery that feels like a forgotten myth. The praise for its originality is deserved, though I’ll admit the pace lost a friend of mine who prefers more action. For pure, unadulterated fun that actually made me laugh out loud, 'The House in the Cerulean Sea' by TJ Klune was a warm hug in book form. Its found-family charm felt essential that year.

I just check the Kindle Daily Deals and the 'New Releases' list on Amazon every morning—it’s become a ritual. Today there's a new thriller by an author I’ve never heard of, 'The Silent Inquiry', which popped up. Also saw that the latest in that popular space opera series, 'Stars Beyond Refuge', is out. I tend to rely on those automated lists because my own 'to-read' pile is huge, but the algorithm knows I can’t resist a slick cover and a ‘just released’ tag. I'm a sucker for stories about deep-space communication breakdowns, and this one uses the concept of degraded light-speed messages to build suspense in a way that feels fresh. The first chapter was available as a preview on the publisher's site last week, and it hooked me immediately. I ended up buying the full ebook that night.

I also noticed a quieter release, 'A History of Silent Things' by Elara Voss. It’s a literary historical fiction about a museum conservator, and it’s getting a very particular kind of praise on bookstagram for its prose. Not for everyone, but if you like slow, tactile descriptions, it’s worth a look. The audiobook narrator has a wonderfully calm voice, perfect for it.
