Next To Never Novels & Stories

It was clearly out of place in the old barn, but if I had to guess, I’d say parents got smart and realized that if their kids were going to party out there, they would make it semi safe. Empty beer cans littered the floor of the stairs, a bra hung from the end railing. The second floor was darker than the bottom where lights hung. Couples swayed to the slow music, oblivious to anything outside of themselves. It didn’t take long to find Neveah because of her clothes. Just in the twenty seconds it took me to get to her, three guys had zeroed in on her. My body hummed at the threat of anyone touching her except me. And she wasn’t even mine—or palpable.

we said at the same time,we finally looked up at each other. Oh, no, it’s the guy next door, he’s attending this college? 😍 Alexander’s P.o.v😍 I looked up at the person i bumped and it was my neighbor but she had a different color of eyes. “Why are you starring at me like that?” She asked as she packed her books. I tried to help her but she smacked my hand off. “Am just trying to help you” “I don’t need your help, it’s bad enough that you are blind” She said and stood up.

When Amelie spoke, she kept staring at Brendan. Although he never looked at her more than once, his manners and appearance were excellent. She was itching to win his heart. Naturally, Deirdre didn't know what was happening at the dinner table as she couldn't see. Still, she was eager to gather more information about Southedge. She inquired, "Isn't Southedge situated opposite Neve? Have you ever heard of Neve?" Amelie leaned on the sofa. "Because my boyfriend and I like to explore, we go around various places. Recently, we have been thinking about going to Neve, so we learned about it in advance."

The camaraderie grew stronger with every round, forging connections and creating memories that would outlast the night. As the group moved on to the next game, the atmosphere became more lively, and the energy in the room surged. Everyone was eager to see what secrets would be unearthed during the game of Never Have I Ever. The players gathered in a circle, each holding their drink, ready to confess their deepest, darkest secrets. But something caught my attention: Tyler and Miles are nowhere to be found. I shrugged, getting rid of the thought.

I ask, curious as to why she looks on edge. She nervously smiles, “Umm… there’s someone…” she manages to say before I cut her off. “You can say what you want to say, is something wrong?” I ask. It’s unlike Andrea to mince her words, she’s normally very straight to the point. I watch as she takes a deep breath before speaking up, “Mr Nek is downstairs”, my eyebrows slightly crease as my mind wanders on what she’s trying to say. “He’s downstairs with some woman, and to be honest she’s too close for comfort”

Nathan whispered. I blinked, slowly. “I don’t even want to know anything.” “Oh, are you sure?” he taunted. I’m not going to think about the dark metallic sports car that had flashed its headlights over Karl and me. I’m not going to think about lights too bright, an engine too smooth, a car that had vanished around the bend last night and then stood in Nathan’s driveway this morning. I’m not going to think about Nathan moving in next door like a chess piece in a gray hoodie.

The tequila was golden and looked expensive - definitely the good stuff like she'd said. "So here's the game," Lisa explained, handing each of us a glass. "Never Have I Ever. Classic. You say something you've never done, and anyone who HAS done it has to drink." "I know how to play Never Have I Ever," Alessio said with an amused smile. "I know you do, I'm explaining for Rhaena," Lisa said, sticking her tongue out at him. "Okay, so I'll start. Let me think of a good one..." She tapped her chin thoughtfully, then grinned. "Okay. Never have I ever... sent a flirty text to the wrong person."

Where is she? "Miss Madeline is missing." Without another thought, Adrian drove straight to the country house. He didn't even notice Julianne calling after him.

“I live directly below her house.” Noelle laughed. “Of course you do.” I raised an eyebrow. “What does that mean?” “Of course Sasha somehow has Rowan Blackwood as a neighbor.” She looked at Rowan. “I didn’t even know people could randomly become your neighbor.” “Usually requires escrow,” Rowan said. I closed my eyes for a second. Noelle laughed again. “This is insane.” “Geography is pretty common,” I said. “Not for you.” Noelle pointed at me with the tip of her finger. “You have a project with Moretti Holdings, then you go home and find out your neighbor is the founder of Blackwood Systems. Who else lives on that street? The Prince of Monaco?”

“Okay, on three we’ll both say the last time we had a night this fun.” “Deal.” He watched me out of the corner of his eye. “One. Two. Three.” “Never,” we both said. “Wait.” I stared at him, wishing I could see his eyes better. “Did you say never?” “I did.” What else was there to say? For a few seconds, we grinned at each other like idiots. Never had I had a night like this. Never had I hoped to. But never had finally arrived. At my apartment complex, Andrew parked right in front of my front door. The porch light beckoned me forward, asking me to not show up alone.
