“Rowan, I’m begging you!” Narisa cries, falling to her knees. “Please!”
Her sobs pierce through the fog of my anger. I glance at her, she stumbles forward, her hands trembling as she reaches out to me. Her voice cracks with desperation, every syllable weighed down by exhaustion. Her breaths come in short, shallow gasps, and her thin frame shakes with the effort of standing. The dark circles under her eyes and the pallor of her skin make her look like she might collapse any second. She looks so fragile, like the wind might shatter her. The sight softens Fenrir’s growls, his rage ebbing slightly.
