Jaxon understood what he made and dismissively waved his hand in the guards direction. They all bowed and walked out of the apartment. After Mikhail heard the door click he sat upright and looked directly into Jaxons eyes. “It’s regarding your wife… she is not who she appears to be” Jaxon felt like bashing his face in. “ You seriously dragged me all the way from New York to talk about my wife? Do you think I’m so stupid that I wouldn’t carry out a background check on the woman I’m married to?” Jaxon angr

My new husband looked at me briefly. "I'll see you at seven. The car will pick you up." Then he walked away. Left his wife of ten minutes standing on the courthouse steps while he went back to work.

I glared furiously at him. “Yes I did. But that is because you were earning twice my income. There is no way I will allow my wife to earn more than I do.” I shook my head at him in disbelief. I can't believe that in this 21st century a man could be this shallow in his thinking. At this moment, it suddenly occurs to me that this is his true self. All those late-night talks and whispered promises were just delusions meant to snare me into this trap of a marriage.
