I bit my lip, heart racing, knowing she was right. Every fiber of me wanted Grayson, but every part of my conscience screamed that this was wrong.
“You have to promise me something,” Leah said, after a pause. “If this starts getting out, you come to me first. Don’t try to handle it alone.”
“I promise,” I said, swallowing hard. “Even if it’s just to vent, to get it off my chest.”
“Good,” she said, and I could hear the relief in her tone. “Now… breathe. Step back from it for a second. You’re not alone in this. Just be smart, okay?”
