She battled with the feelings the mark gave her because she couldn't let herself get hurt again either. Days turned into weeks, and Nicole tried to focus on her duties within the pack. She trained hard, worked on the powers she was supposed to have tirelessly, and even helped out with training sessions. She could feel herself becoming stronger. She was also proud of the money she was saving up for her freedom. Just when she thought things were finally settling down, Alpha Liam's sister, Lilian, a powerful Luna in another pack, came to visit. "Nicole, Luna Lilian, my sister," Alpha Liam said, introducing the two of them.

She started going through different books, leaving Scarlett to watch her with her mouth open, not understanding her intention. Nicole continued this for almost ten minutes, and finally, she found her desired book and descended. Scarlett rubbed her neck, feeling a bit stiff from looking up all the time. "What did you get?" she asked, curious. "You'll know soon." Nicole led her to a desk, and both sat down. Finally, Nicole placed the book on the desk. Scarlett watched it, astonished. It was a massive black journal covered in black roots as if it had grown from them. It looked like a kind of wizardry book.

It wasn't until she noticed the strange book tucked away in the corner that she was able to distract herself from her thoughts. "I almost missed one," she whispered. As she walked over to it, she noticed that its cover was worn, and it seemed to emit a faint glow that caught her attention. Maybe it's how the moon perfectly acted as its own spotlight that made it seem so glowy, but it's not just that. She somehow felt a little hint of amusement as she stared at it. As she approached the book, she saw the shinny title written on it, Lunaria, and she couldn't help but be intrigued. The moonlight shining down on the pages illuminated the words in a way that made them seem to come alive.

“She’s even more beautiful today.” “She looks the same as yesterday,” Graham muttered, though the pride in his eyes betrayed him. “She’s growing,” Lily insisted. “I can tell.” Nicole entered quietly from the side door. Her shoulders were straighter than the last time I’d seen her, though nervousness flickered in her eyes. She carried a stack of scrolls and set them on the table with care. “Morning,” she said softly. I smiled at her. “Morning, Nicole.” She met my gaze, gratitude hidden behind a small nod.
