She also didn't see how blankets would help her be a good Luna. Instead of jumping right into knitting she decided to read first and got out one of the books. The Inner Pack. It was a novel. Not a guide or informational book, but a fictional novel? She staired at it in confusion for a few minutes before she picked it up to start reading.

Nestled among the other books on the massive shelf was a familiar spine that made my eyes widen. No way. I stepped closer to be sure, and I was right, it was The Phoenix Initiative by Lily Cooper. My heart nearly leapt out of my chest. There were only two copies of that book in existence. I had dreamed of owning one, of even catching a glimpse of one in real life. Lily Cooper wasn’t a mainstream author. Her books were considered too complex, too poetic, and too odd for popular taste. But to me, her words were sacred. I would have bled for a chance to read them.

Nicole’s POV The room didn’t just go quiet. Like every breath, every whisper, every curious glance had been suspended midair the second Raphael spoke. “What seems to be the issue here?” His voice wasn’t loud. But it was enough for everyone to hear. Clara moved first. Her entire posture softened, like she had been waiting for this exact moment….for an audience that mattered. “Oh, nothing serious,” she said smoothly, her tone light, almost pleasant. “I just came to speak with Nicole, my beloved stepdaughter and to apologize for what happened yesterday.”

It was the same building but each page illustrated a addition of some sort. We spread out looking for anything useful. I tried making sense of the blueprints but couldn’t understand most of it. For the first time I reached out for Aiden, he knew more about this than I did and I now regretted not paying attention when he had plans drawn up for the ski lodge. Nicolas found his way to one of the many bookcases. Running his hands over the rows he shuttered. “Are all these books made of skin?” He asked. “I wouldn’t doubt it.” I replied.

He asked pointing at a book. "It's a book I stole a long time ago from the vampire royal library." Nichole responded. "I felt the head of the queen's guard should know about her absolute enemy. I'll leave it for you all to read it. Since the last Blue Moon wolf was born I have collected a lot of things to fight that blood-sucking bastard." She said with such fury I swore I saw heat radiate from her. "Thank you, Nichole." I said sitting up. "No need for thanks. I treasure your existence as much as Selene does. It is my duty as her closest friend." She said with a bow and left the office.

’ Seeing the little girl’s resistance, Camille looked at Nicole in confusion. The corners of Nicole’s mouth twitched as she quickly took the book over. “Thank you. Although she doesn’t know much at the moment, she really likes to read. She’ll be very happy when she’s old enough to understand this book.” Camille nodded without a doubt. “Leighton and I picked this book for a long time. It’ll be a useful book for her to read from elementary school to university.”

I asked softly. "Yes," she nodded, clearly uncertain why I was asking this. I reached into my bag and pulled out a small notebook. Inside were Cici's drunken ramblings that I'd carefully transcribed. I handed it to her. "Could you look at this? These descriptions of places - have you seen anything like them before? Or did the girl who attacked you ever mention locations like these?" Nicole took the notebook with trembling hands. Harper watched as Nicole's eyes moved across the notes. Her expression shifted - first intense focus, then a flicker of confusion, and finally, a slow, dawning horror. It was like watching a shadow creep over her face, swallowing the light behind her eyes.

Childish. "No..." I just let out an exhausted sigh. When we opened the door, Zaphe was smiling like a dog. But his smile slowly faded upon seeing us. I just look at him with a poker face. "What the hell?" he blurted out. "Hey! What are you doing to Luna?" Nicole appeared behind Zaphe. "Tsk." Leemin snorted and Claudette chuckled. We turned and walked back to sit on the sofa. They look at us weirdly. "Hey! Ere! Is it the day of the month?" Claudette shook her head while grinning.
