He’d fled and backed away, escaping with his life, such as it was. Eyes shut tight, he saw the others run before he did. They all ran down the tunnel toward the place of bones. Flavius felt a little forgiveness in that he ran last, but this soon dissipated when they ran into the group of younger beast men in the tunnel. All of the men died, but killed the creatures, youthful as they were so small. He helped in that, but alone survived.

We need to be prepared. I’ve seen Zahra and her wolf in action. They’re a force to be reckoned with, but right now they’re weak, and fragile, and broken. I have a rough plan for that too. It seems to be morning, and her head felt like tearing apart. She moved the hand which is unusually strong and sturdy away. She sat up on the bed, stretching and yawning. Guests, mostly—elders in sharp wool suits and ancient leather, a handful of uncollared juveniles still trying on their various hungers. The run took place at the edge of the preserve, where the woods surrendered to rock and the air burned with the onset of real winter. Marcus stood at the mouth of the path, flanked by Lyra and two of the stone-faced councilmen. He gave no pep talk; just turned and started running, hungry as a spear through the trees.

We sit at the long table and General Lillith points to a map on the screen. “We will attack tonight at 21:00. We already have troops in place in a wide circle around the bunker. Goddard is inside. We don’t know what sort of escape tunnels they’ve built. We can only know that once we are inside. We can only hope we surprise him before he can escape,” Lillith says. “Our main objective here is the assassination of the traitor Goddard,” Warrick says. “Besides killing a snake, we will decapitate their army.”

Another rogue tries to come for me, but I am unstoppable now. Before it could even touch an inch of my hair, I’m on top of it and my claws are gouging his eyes out. Holy fuck, this feels fucking good. I am lost in the trance of blood. One after the other, I rip them apart. Everything comes easy to me. It’s like second nature at this point, and not long after, there is only one left from all eleven rogues. Calypso and Cane shift back to human form and they are drenched in crimson red from head to toe.

The forest also spans around the outskirts of our pack, creating an eastern territorial boundary between our pack and a couple of wastelands just before the sea separating us from the Black River Pack. A bunch of wastelands I hear are now being occupied by rogues. Moments later, I finally get to the parking lot and drive in. I turn off my car engine and step out. It feels so damn good to be here early on my first day. Rhia and Kian already messaged me that they are here. Al is setting up his office at the base clinic. My brother is so charming behind syringes that his victims, especially the females, do not feel even the slightest pain of his needle.
