‘Dismount,’ Nightmare commands me. Carefully, I slide off his back and step away from him. His body morphs before my eyes. He is no longer the black stallion, but a massive dragon with terrible claws on his front feet. He flaps his wings, and the wind pushes me back onto the ground. Leonidas is standing over me, growling at what used to be his horse, but Nightmare is not fazed. He rises into the air and grabs Leonidas in his claws. I am terrified, and a scream rips from my body.
