Daniela’s POV I was sure I was going to wake up before Kathy did, because one: I didn’t sleep long in new environments. And two: a nightmare would definitely wake me up hours before I would like to be up. But that didn’t happen. When I opened my eyes, the room was very bright. Either Kathy’s bedroom curtains were very light or I had slept hours deep into the day. The latter didn’t feel real. Another thing, Kathy wasn’t on the bed.

We were on our feet instantly. “They picked up her trail again. She crossed into Northern Claw territory 2 hours ago.” Kieran went ice-cold. “And?” Darius swallowed. “And the Northern Claws are moving south. Full war party. 200 strong.” He looked at me. There’s a screaming storm surrounding it and flashes of red, demonic lightning. But I see it, clear as day. So cautious, afraid, and hopeful, I reach a hand toward it. I summon Neron, collecting all the power I can. I reach. I imagine killing that pulsing darkness. My hands glow blue and brilliant. And the second I touch it, my brain is filled with screams, a howling storm of rage. And everything goes dark.

I could dream forever and never run out of nightmare material. I look to the clock and see that it is almost 5am. My alarm will go off soon. I really don’t want to get up. Do I have to? That’s a stupid question. I do if I don’t want extra beatings from Krono. I found out Krono wasn’t actually a human years ago. Krono is a warlock and a damn good one too.
