There was something about him that felt playful, but the intensity behind his gaze was undeniable, as if he could see through every layer of me.

A pack member was trying to contact him. “Yes?” Kane replied as he opened the link. “Alpha, I think you need to come now. It is about your mate.” “Shit!” The panic in her voice had him abandoning his shower and hurriedly picking up whatever clothes he could lay his hands on, and he was throwing them on his wet figure. “Alpha.” Denise panicked as she saw the alpha in front of her, his hair still dripping with water. His shirt had clung tightly to his muscular frame, and even she had to admit that he was hot.

Her father did not have a male lineage, so she was appointed as the next Alpha in her pack.

Behind him, the men and women crept farther away. He pushed the door to the stairway open. As he did, a dark shadow snuck up from behind him. Jack spun, staring straight into the black glossy mask of an Alpha. The Alpha slammed him against the door, knocking the pistol from his hand. He lifted Jack off the ground with both hands at his throat. Jack gasped for breath and clawed at the mask. He grabbed for the Alpha's arms and tried to burn them, but the Alpha's tech suit sucked up the heat easily with its blue electricity. His legs kicked out as he struggled to make any sort of noise or shout, anything to alert the men to run for safety.

Soon they stopped at a table that already had three people sitting at it. After sitting down at the table, Alex wrapped his arm around Ash once more. He then looked at his friends and smiled at them. As Ash looked at the three friends, he could sense that two of them were alphas and the other was a beta. The alphas were both male, and the beta was also male. It was making Ash feel uneasy, and he moved as close to Alex as he could. Alex could sense the boy's distress, so he pulled Ash's head towards his neck, letting the omega smell his scent. After a few minutes, Ash lifted his head, and when he did, he saw all of Alex's friends looking at him. Alex looked over at his friends too and growled

''I see you do not know very much about a werewolf's nature -- the nature of your mate? The word 'mate' hung heavily in the air, reminding her of all the lessons in pleasure she had acted out, and not with her mate! And for whatever reason, the knife had not really harmed the Shark, even though it was silver. A thought occured to her. ''You cannot be an alpha, can you? Only alpha's heal from silver wounds.'' The Shark got up from the bed. ''You have a lot to learn, but it would not be now.'' He tucked in his shirt that had gotten disheveled, then he headed for the door.
