The drive to Black Water took almost three hours and Layla, having had only two hours sleep, drifted in and out of sleep while Gray sat beside her typing on his laptop. They had barely spoken for most of the trip after he had tried to make conversation but she had made it clear that she wasn’t in the mood for small talk. He glanced surreptitiously at her now, wondering what on earth Blake was up to sending his only daughter as a peace offering to his archenemy. A wide smile illuminated her features as she hastened her pace, eager to reach them. "Gio... Oh my goodness, it's Ryle!" Layla exclaimed, her delight evident in her voice. With a mix of excitement and tenderness, she swiftly closed the distance between them, her eyes fixed on Ryle, the one who respect her after Giovanni. "Layla!" Ryle called out, his voice filled with affection, and he ran towards her, his tiny legs carrying him swiftly into her awaiting embrace. I told myself I couldn't.
