More tears escaped my eyes just watching her. She must have felt the same thing, went through the phase again, when she saw me shoot Reyna.

Nina’s face stiffened. I looked at her and said it slowly, one word at a time. “You look down on me this much, and yet in the end you still cried in my arms and asked... why you weren’t as good as me.” At those last words, her expression twisted in an instant, and her hand flew up to strike me. But right then, footsteps sounded outside the door. Adrian was back. "Don’t forget who I am—I’m Reina, the killer. I could end you right here, right now, and not a soul would dare challenge me." She tilted her head slightly, her smirk widening as she stepped closer, her presence suffocating. "So stop acting like you own me," she said, her voice low and venomous. "Because I will never, ever be yours." "Yeah? But you're were begging me for more last night. Forgotten so soon?" I said backing her up at the wall.

I asked her. Nina contemplated my question, then said, "Well, he isn't exactly by the book. I'm sure it was easy to get. You know, we could do a little recon and see what exactly you're getting yourself into by working with him." She wagged her eyebrows at me and flexed her fingers. Nina is a brilliant hacker, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued with her looking into Adrian before I jumped headfirst into the case. I thought about it for a beat, then told her, "Okay, but nothing illegal. Promise?"
