Not far from her, Beau remained in the room they had placed him in.
He had not spoken a word since Rey dragged him off of Malcolm. He sat in silence, eyes open and unblinking, untouched by the voices around him as he stared at the vacant wall ahead. Lycan guards rotated watch as if he, too, were something fragile and dangerous in equal measure.
In a different cabin, Orion's body lay in state, now wrapped in black ceremonial fur marked with the sigils of the North.
The Alpha had fallen, and with him the enemies of the North, but without him, the North stood stunned—waiting, bracing, suspended between obedience and ruin.
