“Please…” My legs give out. I don’t realize I’m falling until Zayn’s arms are suddenly around me, firm—as though he’s been waiting for me to collapse, just to catch me before I hit the floor. I shut my eyes, took a deep breath, and hurried over. Louisa's head was tilted up, and she was talking to Ewan. As I approached, her voice grew clearer. "I'm not afraid of pain. I'll be like Mommy. Mommy had a huge monster on her face that she had to fight, and she won. I'll definitely beat the demon inside my body."

“I’m always here for you.” He slid his arms under me and lifted me off the ground as if I weighed nothing. My arms clung to his neck instinctively. He held me tight.

He picked my hand that he held against the wall, and twisted it also behind my back, holding both my hands in one of his… Realizing that I had been completely incapacitated by him, I struggled even more, fighting like my life depended on it. “Ugh… ah, let go.” I groaned and then a sound came from my shoulders—a pop sound and I stilled. “Now, hold still or you will break your arm.” he said softly against my neck before pressing a kiss there. He wasn’t concerned if my arms break or not, he has made it known that he is unwilling to let go of me.
