Brian POV The next morning, I head straight to my office, and as I do this, I try to link Anna, and she doesn't respond. I link my mom and dad. They verify she's still asleep and the kids are, too. You really don't know how much you are getting on my nerves right now!”

“You’re… this has to be a prank.” She slipped inside before he could protest, closing the door behind her with a soft click. The scent of her—jasmine and something warmer, like heated skin after a long day—filled the tiny space. “No prank. I read *Shadows Entwined*. Every chapter. Twice.” She pulled a battered printout from her bag, pages dog-eared and highlighted. “You wrote the scene where she begs him to ruin her on the director’s chair. That was… visceral.” Heat flooded his face. She had found his anonymous work. The one he poured his darkest fantasies into. “How did you—”

Xavier said as I settled Loise in bed. “Okay,” I nodded, because I had something to ask him as well. I nodded and picked her bedtime stories. It was a Sleeping Beauty retelling. Xavier’s POV I never thought I’d attend a book reading, talk less of one for little children, yet here I was watching Nicole read bedtime stories about a sleeping knight and the princess who came to save him. “You do this to make her sleep at night?” I asked. “Yes, you should also try it since you have that thing… insomnia,” Loise said.
