Nora Roberts Awakening Series Novels & Stories

*Aaron* I don't know about you, but waking up next to someone as extraordinary as Winter can do funny things to a guy. Today, I felt like I was plugged into an energy grid or something. I woke from deep sleep, blinking against the golden rays pouring through the window, only to find Winter still lost in her dreams, her red hair swirling around her like a fiery halo. For a moment, I just sat there, taking in the sight, wondering how someone so ethereal could exist in my world. The tattoo on my chest—a northern star—seemed to pulse in sync with my heartbeat, thrumming with the same energy I felt when I marked her.

It's already past midnight and the howling and the run must have rendered the wolves—young and old—pain to their muscles; that they must long to sprawl their legs and arms under the comfort of their warm blankets. But everyone is filled with eager anticipation and excitement. Everyone is awake for a good reason. Even Sebastian who originally planned to relax under the moonlight wasn't able to avoid the cheerful agitation. He stands beside Nyx with his arms folded against his chest. Nyx has been super excited after the series of howling. And now her heart, everyone in their pack, must have felt the thrilled anticipation to see their Alphas.

With a sigh, she lets the mysterious stranger with blue eyes vanish. The light purple walls of her room come into focus when she rolls onto her side. Sera is still reminiscing about her dream. It's so hard for her to wake up sometimes. Maybe she could sleep forever. She finds herself wishing she could live in the other world, the one her subconscious has created. She's still contemplating this when her alarm clock blares to life behind her. Sighing to herself, she rolls over and out of beed to begin the routine that is her daily life.

Nora noticed because she had been awake since four and had spent the last two hours watching the light outside the window change very slowly from black to grey to the particular flat white of an overcast morning that couldn't decide what it was. She had not slept properly in three days. She was aware of it in her body — the specific heaviness behind her eyes, the ache at the base of her skull, the way everything felt slightly slower than it should, like the world was moving at its normal speed and she was a half second behind it. Ashley arrived at seven. She came in with two coffees and sat in the chair beside Nora without asking and handed one over without speaking, and Nora held it with bo

Rogers brought her husband in for the second time this week for fighting, it was time to close up and head home. I woke up at noon like I have the last few days after a night at work, but the only thing different today is that I am not alone. I hear noises that jerk me awake but I don’t open my eyes. Well, there goes my solitude and my peace & peace & quiet. Soon after I realized I can’t go back to sleep I opened my eyes and there is a girl my age, beautiful dark mocha skin with natural light brown and black short hair with coffee shade eyes staring straight at me.

Visibility was still poor, but she was able to see and avoid obstacles that might cause pain to her bare feet. When she reached the log fence that lined the border of the farm’s freshly manicured lawn, the sun was just tapping on the moon’s shoulder to signify that it was time to trade places. She peered at the remnants of the moon while she searched her foggy brain for what occurred to cause her to, once again, wake up naked in the field. Unlike the month prior, this time she had flashes of memories. She just needed to be able to put them together enough to make sense of them. She’d work on that later. The present priority was to get into her bedroom undetected.

I tried to run, but my legs wouldn't move. He had drugged me in the car. My consciousness blurred; I had to focus just to stay awake. I was done for. If anyone could save me now, it would have to be my phone. But it had been smashed by Thomas and left behind on the road. Despair consumed me… until the distant roar of a car engine reached my ears. Thomas frowned, hid the knife behind his back, and warned me to stay quiet. Then he went to check outside. What happened next, I don't know. When I woke, I was lying on the side of a road. The sky was completely dark. No one was around.

A nurse came in and muttered, "Did the girl in Bed #1 leave? She hasn't taken her report." There were only Edith and me in the ward. It couldn't be mine, so it must be Edith's report. Evelyn wouldn't give me an IV but completed a full check-up for Edith. I walked past the nurse with a cold face. Unexpectedly, she recognized me and called out to me, "Hey, are you Edith's family? Can you take her report?" I was about to refuse, but the nurse said something else that changed my mind. "She is pregnant. Tell her to be careful. Luckily, the fall into the water didn't cause any problems."

"There's one thing I can't wrap my head around. Why Ashfall again? They were defeated here just three months ago. They know we've got heavy defenses in place. "Why not attack another city where they'd have a better shot? It doesn't make sense," I said, frowning at him. "I don't know for sure, but I have a hunch this has something to do with Norman. During the battle the other night, we found a Rogue we thought was dead. Turns out he survived, but he hasn't woken up yet. When he does, we might get some answers." "Can I see him now?" "I'll let you know when he's conscious. For now, try to rest. The real battle is yet to come, and we'll need you at full strength."

Zanvil woke up because his phone continued ringing. He groaned when he felt his head spinning. He knew it was because of a hangover. He shouldn't have drank so much but it was because of his best friend Nathan. He was drinking his sorrows away with him and now it's time to repay with a bloody hangover. When he turned around he almost jumped out of the bed. Nora was sleeping peacefully beside him and to his utter horror she was naked. The blanket barely covering her chest. She was looking so beautiful like an angel. When he looked at himself he found himself naked too.
