Ronan let out a heavy, guttural breath in his distant bunker, hurling his headset against the reinforced wall as his beast roared over another blown opportunity to establish a perimeter around my loyalty. A self-deprecating, bitter smile touched my mouth as I stared at the dark monitor. I retrieved the ruby tooth necklace from its carbon housing, letting the heavy iron links wrap around my knuckles while my processors tracked the mysterious craftsmanship. The monster, which had four arms and looked like a human, stared at Jun Ke with lustful eyes, for some reason seeing him as if he were the opposite sex. Jun Ke sensed that something was wrong and immediately attacked the monster with his sword.

~ Aria's POV ~ I entered the eatery with Callista. It was cozy—nothing like the eerie, grand halls of Eclipse Academy. There were only a few people inside. Some were focused on their food, while others were glued to their phones, taking selfies of themselves and the meals they were having. They all looked... normal. Too normal. You’d never guess if they were humans or not. Honestly, if someone walked into Eclipse Academy without prior knowledge, they'd easily assume the monsters there were human too.

The monster was required to tell its victim its core rules. And those rules came in three parts. Being killed by the monster triggers a loop. The loop has a limit on the number of cycles. The monster can take human form. Three rules, neat and precise. As for the "extra" rule it had told me—that it could alter memories—that was nothing but a lie. The logic was simple. If every loop erased my memory, the monster had absolutely no need to tell me about the loop at all.

I just really want to see those who serve here and have a little conversation with them so that I'll have someone to be with when the blade is gone just like now.
