Cynthia’s eyes flicker, a sly look crossing them. “Oh, about that,” she murmurs, tilting her head as if in thought. “I’m not supposed to say this now, but don’t you think you shouldn’t be judging yet? I mean, who knows what the truth really is?” She shrugs, leaning back, her nonchalance deliberate.
The words don’t escape me. What does she mean by that?
She exhales, her voice taking on a musing quality. “You know, sometimes people act on what they believe is right, even when, deep down, they might not be as blameless as they seem.”
