Chan got off at the city hub and walked to the Lilac Works. On the way to the office he stopped to watch a huge building under construction. It was the tallest in the city and was under the final finishing works. It was rumored that the whole building was of a single corporation, but which, no one had any idea. Chan looked at the construction for a moment and then went to the office.

Gardens. Tiny bicycles. The sight stopped them cold. Because it looked normal. Almost beautiful. Like a school. Like a daycare. Like somewhere children should laugh. And for a brief moment Nova forgot where they were. Forgot what island this was. Forgot who built it. Then she saw the smoke. And remembered. The nursery stood at the center of the compound. A large building. Three floors. One entire side engulfed in flames. Children ran everywhere. Some crying. Some screaming. Some simply standing still.

We were building something new. Together.
